North South University (NSU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), Malaysia, marking another significant step in NSU’s continuing efforts to strengthen international academic partnerships and expand opportunities for global engagement.

The MoU Signing Ceremony was held on 13 August 2026 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, North South University, and was organized by the Office of External Affairs (OEA), NSU.

The ceremony was conducted in a hybrid format, enabling representatives to participate both in person at North South University and virtually, reflecting the institutions’ shared commitment to maintaining meaningful academic connections across geographical boundaries.

The MoU establishes a framework for both universities to explore and develop mutually beneficial academic and institutional initiatives. Through this partnership, North South University and Universiti Tun Abdul Razak aim to strengthen cooperation in areas such as:

• Student and faculty mobility and exchange
• Joint research and scholarly collaboration
• Collaborative academic programmes and initiatives
• Joint seminars, workshops, conferences, and knowledge-sharing activities

The Office of External Affairs (OEA), North South University, is pleased to share an exciting international learning opportunity for students — the International Pharmacy Immersion Programme (IPIP) 2026, hosted by Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP), Malaysia.

Taking place from 13–27 September 2026, this two-week immersion programme offers students the opportunity to experience Malaysia’s healthcare and pharmaceutical ecosystem through a unique combination of academic learning, practical exposure, research engagement, professional experience, and cultural exchange.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the Malaysian healthcare system, experience community pharmacy practice, explore pharmaceutical research and industry environments, participate in community engagement activities, and discover Malaysia’s diverse culture alongside an international academic experience.

Crowned Miss World Bangladesh 2026, Samanzar has carried with her much more than a crown. A graduate of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at North South University, she has distinguished herself through academic excellence, research, athletics, music, dance and community engagement.

Her journey reflects the spirit of an NSU graduate who believes that excellence can take many forms.

Beyond the spotlight, Samanzar is using the global platform to advocate for something deeply meaningful: public health and preventive healthcare. Through her Beauty With a Purpose initiative, Hygiene for Health Bangladesh, she is championing hygiene awareness, sanitation and healthier communities across Bangladesh.

From the research environment at NSU to an international stage in Vietnam, her journey reflects the power of knowledge, purpose, confidence and determination.

As Samanzar represents Bangladesh alongside contestants from around the world, the entire NSU community stands with her with immense pride.

One of the most cherished aspects of being an NSUer is knowing that the NSU family extends far beyond the university campus and across borders.

The NSU Office of External Affairs, in collaboration with the Aussie NSUers Association, was delighted to facilitate a wonderful day out for a group of NSU students who have travelled to Sydney to pursue their studies at Macquarie University, accompanied by Ms Shabnin Rahman Shorna, Faculty of School of Business and Economics.

As part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen connections with NSUers living and studying abroad, the Aussie NSUers Association warmly invited NSU alumni currently studying at Macquarie University to join this special day trip. The invitation received a wonderful and cordial response from the students, making the day even more meaningful.

The group enjoyed a memorable trip to the breathtaking Blue Mountains, where beautiful scenery provided the perfect backdrop for friendship, laughter, meaningful conversations and reminiscing about their NSU days.

It was heartwarming to see current students and alumni come together and experience firsthand how the NSU spirit transcends generations, distance and borders.

The wonderful day concluded with great food, warm conversations and the creation of many new memories.

The group was accompanied by representatives of the Aussie NSUers Association - President Nahar A Disha, Vice President M Tazim Tareque, and Organising Secretary Sameen Newaz.

The partnership brings together the academic expertise and resources of North South University and the community-centered experience of HOPE Foundation, with a shared commitment to contributing to the well-being and empowerment of women, children, and communities in Bangladesh.

Through this collaboration, the two institutions aim to explore opportunities in areas of mutual interest, including research and knowledge exchange, student engagement, internships and experiential learning, community outreach, capacity building, awareness initiatives, and collaborative programmes. Book Unveiling and Scholarship Ceremony: “Reclaiming Bangladesh: Democracy, Governance, & Nation Building”

North South University hosted the Book Unveiling and Scholarship Ceremony of “Reclaiming Bangladesh: Democracy, Governance, & Nation Building” on 8 August 2026 at AUDI 801, NSU Campus. The event brought together distinguished national leaders, academics, scholars, students, and guests for an engaging exchange of perspectives on democracy, governance, public leadership, and the future of nation building in Bangladesh.

The programme commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the welcome and introduction delivered by Amb. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury.

The ceremony was graced by Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, MP, Hon’ble Minister for Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives, as the Chief Guest.

Their remarks complemented the central themes of Reclaiming Bangladesh and contributed to a timely and thought-provoking dialogue.

Unveiling “Reclaiming Bangladesh”

Another major highlight of the programme was the formal unveiling of “Reclaiming Bangladesh: Democracy, Governance, & Nation Building,” featuring selected writings of Ambassador M. Serajul Islam.

Prior to the unveiling, Mrs. Naureen Islam of Bangladesh Empowered introduced the editorial team and acknowledged their contributions to the publication. The book was formally unveiled by Ms. Mahrukh Mohiuddin, Managing Director, University Press Limited (UPL).

The unveiling was followed by an in-depth book discussion featuring Prof. Dilara Choudhury, Amb. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, and Ms. Farah Kabir. The discussion explored the ideas and perspectives presented in the publication and offered reflections on Bangladesh’s evolving political, social, and institutional landscape.
