The Department of Law, University of Information Technology & Sciences (UITS), is delighted to welcome Mrs. Halimatus Sadia as a Lecturer in the Department of Law.
Mrs. Halimatus Sadia holds an LLB and LLM from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). She has demonstrated strong academic excellence throughout her studies, securing 1st position in her LLB session (2019–2020) and 3rd position in her LLM session (2023–2024). She was also awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship throughout both her LLB and LLM programmes.
Prior to joining UITS, she briefly served as a Lecturer in the Department of Law and Justice at Fareast International University, where she gained valuable experience in teaching and academic engagement.
Her academic interests primarily focus on International Refugee Law and Intellectual Property Law. She has co-authored the research article titled “Rohingya Repatriation: A Socio-Legal Appraisal from the Registered and Unregistered Camps, Cox’s Bazar,” published in the Journal of Security and Strategic Studies (2025).
Alongside her academic pursuits, Mrs. Sadia has gained valuable practical and research experience, including serving as a Field Researcher in a humanitarian project on Rohingya repatriation in Cox’s Bazar. She has also participated in several specialised legal workshops, seminars, and training programmes organised by institutions including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and BABSEACLE. Notably, she was recognised as the Best Participant in the UNODC Advanced Legal Workshop and Mock Trial on Combating Trafficking in Persons & Smuggling of Migrants, reflecting her strong commitment to practical legal education and professional development.
We are confident that Mrs. Halimatus Sadia’s academic excellence, research experience, and dedication to legal education will make a meaningful contribution to our academic community.

The Department of Law, University of Information Technology & Sciences (UITS) is delighted to welcome Ms. Anika Achol as a Lecturer in the Department of Law.

Ms. Anika specializes in International Law and joins the department with valuable academic and professional experience. Prior to joining UITS, she served as a Lecturer in the Department of Law at Varendra University , where she was actively engaged in teaching, academic mentoring, and research.

She also successfully completed an internship with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) , contributing to projects on the reintegration and rehabilitation of returnee migrants supported by the European Union (EU). This experience has strengthened her expertise in migration governance, international law, and human rights.

We are confident that Ms. Anika's knowledge, dedication, and commitment to legal education will make a significant contribution to our academic community.

Our 3rd new family member of the Department of Law, UITS, Ms. Siana Tabasum Puthi, is a dedicated academic and legal professional with a strong background in legal education and practice. She completed her Master of Laws (LL.M.) and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from East West University, Dhaka, achieving commendable academic results.

Prior to joining UITS, Ms. Puthi served as a Lecturer in the Department of Law and Human Rights at R. P. Shaha University, where she actively contributed to teaching, student mentoring, and academic development. Earlier, she gained extensive teaching experience as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) at East West University for approximately two and a half years, which significantly enhanced her instructional and academic coordination skills.

In addition to her academic career, she has practical legal experience as a former Legal Associate, where she developed expertise in legal drafting, research, and client coordination, maintaining a strong balance between academic knowledge and legal practice.

She has been awarded the prestigious Medha Lalon Scholarship and Medha Lalon (Dean’s List) Scholarship for two consecutive semesters in recognition of her academic excellence. Her research contribution includes the publication titled “Water Diplomacy and the Impact of Dams and Barrages” (2025) in Nature Insights, reflecting her keen interest in international and environmental law.

Furthermore, Ms. Siana Tabasum Puthi has actively participated in various academic and co-curricular activities, including the Nuremberg Moot Court Competition (written round) and the NILS Intra Moot Court Competition as an oralist. She has also attended multiple workshops on mooting and advocacy, participated in the Asia CLE Mock Sentencing Hearing (2024), and engaged in law clinics and street law programs. Her involvement extends to seminars and webinars on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), gender equality, and legal awareness.

Overall, Ms. Puthi demonstrates a strong commitment to legal scholarship, teaching, and professional growth, contributing meaningfully to both the academic and practical dimensions of the legal field. We warmly welcome her to the UITS family and look forward to her valuable contributions to the Department of Law.

Our second family member, Rafa Raonak, completed her LL.B. and LL.M. from the Department of Law and Justice at Jahangirnagar University, where she demonstrated strong leadership and organisational skills by serving as the Treasurer of the Jahangirnagar University Law Students Association.
Prior to joining UITS, she gained valuable professional experience as an intern at the Enforcement Department of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, where she was involved in regulatory and compliance-related matters.
Alongside her academic and professional journey, she actively engaged in debating throughout her school and college years, reflecting her excellent communication abilities, critical thinking skills, and passion for intellectual discourse.

Newly joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Law at the University of Information Technology & Sciences (UITS), Bangladesh, Tasfia Tarannum Prova brings a strong academic background and an interdisciplinary research profile to her role. She holds both an LL.B. and an LL.M. from the University of Dhaka, where she specialised in International Human Rights Law, International Refugee Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, Gender in General Laws, and Forensics. Her master's thesis, Constitutional Protection of Intergenerational Justice: A Comparative Study of South Asian Constitutions, reflects her deep interest in constitutionalism, sustainability, and comparative legal studies.

Her teaching and research interests encompass Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law, Public International Law, International Refugee Law, Evidence Law, Corporate Law, Medical Jurisprudence, Environmental Law, Gender and the Law, and International Criminal Law. She is dedicated to fostering critical legal thinking, intellectual curiosity, and research excellence through a student-centred and engaging approach to legal education.

Ms. Prova has previously served as a Lead Researcher and Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Genocide and Justice (CSGJ), Liberation War Museum, where she worked on the 1971 Genocide, focusing on accountability, minority rights, and gender justice. She also contributed as a Panelist and Resource Person at the 12th Winter School organised by CSGJ, mentoring emerging researchers in research methodology, peacebuilding, and transitional justice. Currently, she serves as the Director of International Relations & Partnerships at the International Institute for Law and Politics (IILP), actively contributing to global academic collaboration and institutional partnerships.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to genocide and human rights research, she was awarded the Best Researcher Award by CSGJ. Her scholarly work includes both published and ongoing research in constitutional law, genocide studies, and human rights.

Prior to joining UITS, she gained valuable experience in legal research, policy analysis, and practice through her work with BRAC’s Social Empowerment and Legal Protection (SELP) Programme, corporate legal practice, and academic research initiatives. Alongside her professional responsibilities, she has actively mentored emerging researchers and taught LL.B. students, bridging academic scholarship with practical legal insights.

Ms. Prova aspires to contribute to rigorous legal scholarship, advance interdisciplinary research, and prepare future legal professionals through excellence in teaching, research, and public engagement.

The conference served as a vibrant platform for academics, legal professionals, researchers and students to engage in insightful discussions on emerging issues relating to 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐰, 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚. It fostered meaningful scholarly dialogue, encouraged interdisciplinary collaboration, and provided an excellent opportunity for participants to present and exchange innovative legal research addressing contemporary global and regional challenges.
