Introduction of SBS
Shanghai Business School (SBS) is a comprehensive public institution of higher education with a distinct focus on applied economics and business administration. It is featured by “application-oriented, innovative, and international visions” to build a high-level business school in all aspects with distinctive characteristics, and is dedicated to cultivating high-quality applied business talents with social responsibility, professionalism, practical ability, innovative spirit, and international vision. SBS is committed to open education and has been working to enhance its international reputation and influence. SBS has carried out cooperation and exchanges with more than 108 overseas universities and research institutions in the USA, UK, Australia, etc. It initiated the establishment of the Belt and Road International Business Education Alliance and the International High-end Business Think Tank Alliance and established an overseas education base in Central and Eastern Europe.
The College of International Education of Shanghai Business School is a functional department responsible for the enrollment and management of international students in China, and a teaching unit directly managed under SBS. The college first started to enroll international students in 2007, and so far it has enrolled international students from more than 70 countries and regions, including the US, Germany, Russia, Australia, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, etc. Over the past few years, the school has gradually enlarged its scale of international students, and increasingly enriched its teaching forms. In addition, it actively develops all English specialties and courses, aiming to create a richly layered international student training system, train outstanding messengers of cultural exchanges, and build a bridge of friendship between China and foreign countries.
Programs for International Students
Eligibility Requirements
(1) Citizenship
Applicants for undergraduate programs must be non-Chinese citizens.
(2) Age and Educational Background
Chinese-taught Programs: Applicants must have a high school degree or above and be no more than 25 years old.
English-taught Programs: Applicants must have a high school degree or above and be no more than 30 years old.
(3) Language Proficiency
Chinese-taught Programs: Applicants should have a Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 or above, HSKK Intermediate Level or above, and meet the language requirements of the specific college they are applying to.
English-taught Programs: Applicants should be proficient in English.
Application Requirements
(1) Application Form for International Students at Shanghai Business School
(2) Copy of Passport
(3) High School Graduation Certificate
(4) High School Academic Transcript
(5) Chinese-taught Programs: Certificate of HSK 4 or above, HSKK Intermediate or above.
English-taught Programs: Certificate of an internationally recognized English proficiency test and obtain a score of at least 5.5 in IELTS and 70 in TOEFL. Where it is impossible to provide such certificates in special circumstances, applicants should provide the certificate of English learning throughout primary and secondary school stages or the official certificate of all-English teaching issued by an international school.

(7) Financial Support Document, Letter of Sponsorship (a photocopy of your sponsor’s passport is also required)
(8) Certificate of Non-criminal Record
(9) Foreign Physical Examination Form (free from infectious diseases)
(10) Applicants whose place of birth is China need to provide the following copies: certificate of naturalization, certificate of cancellation of Chinese household registration, certificate of overseas residency record in recent four years.
(11) A 3-minute self-introduction video in Chinese/English
(12) A study plan in Chinese/English
(13) Electronic photo (2-inch bareheaded, unframed color ID photo)
Notes:
1) For documents issued in other languages, please provide notarized ones in Chinese or in English.
2) Applicants under 18 years old should provide a Guardian’s Letter of Guarantee.
Scholarships
Shanghai Government Scholarship for International Students
Type A covers tuition, dormitory fees, living expenses, and medical insurance;
Type B covers tuition and medical insurance.
Note: Coverage: Only available for Chinese-taught programs
SBS Scholarship for International Students
Type I: subsidies for tuition, dormitory fee, and living expenses at the rate of 1,200 RMB/month/person (ten months);
Type II: subsidies for tuition, insurance fee (800 RMB/year/person), and living expenses at the rate of 1,200 RMB/month/person (ten months);
Type III: subsidies for tuition, insurance fee (800 RMB/year/person), and living expenses at the rate of 600 RMB/month/person (ten months);
Type IV: subsidies for tuition and insurance fees (800 RMB/year/person);
Type V: subsidies for living expenses at the rate of 1,200 RMB/month/person (ten months).
