Orientation Program of Professional Certificate in Islamic Economics (PCIE), 1st Batch | BIIF
The Orientation Program of the Professional Certificate in Islamic Economics (PCIE), 1st Batch, was successfully held on 19 September 2026 at 3:30 PM at the Training Room of the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Finance (BIIF).
The program was graced by Professor Dr. Ali Akkas, Prominent Economist and Distinguished Fellow of the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT), as the Chief Guest. In his insightful speech, he discussed the methodology and philosophy of Islamic economics, highlighting its intellectual foundations and distinctive principles.
Abdul Awaal Sarker, Distinguished Fellow of BIIT, Director of Janata Bank PLC, and Former Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, attended as the Guest of Honor. In his speech, he discussed the historical background and evolution of conventional and Islamic economics, providing valuable insights into their respective developments.
Dr. Syed Shahid Ahmad, Deputy Director of BIIT, attended as a Special Guest and encouraged participants to promote and uphold Islamic economics within the academic arena. Dr. K. M. Zakir Hossain Shalim, Faculty of BIIF and First Assistant Vice President (FAVP) & Faculty of Islamic Banking at NCC Bank PLC, also attended as a Special Guest and emphasized the importance of Islamic economics and finance among the participants.
During the program, Dr. Md. Golam Martoza, Assistant Director & Faculty of BIIF, presented an informative documentary highlighting BIIF's institutional introduction, academic programs, activities, courses, distinctive features, and educational resources from a broad perspective.
The orientation program marked an important beginning for the PCIE 1st Batch, fostering academic engagement, professional development, and a deeper understanding of Islamic economics and finance.
