The 9th December, 2025 will mark the 10th anniversary of International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime. Despite the world vowing 'Never Again' and adopting the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide 77 years ago, genocide sadly has occurred again and again throughout the decades. Of them, the 1971 Genocide during the Liberation War of Bangladesh remains one of the most heineous one, killing thousands of innocent Bengali at the hands of the Pakistani Army. Despite the gravity of the traumatic episode, the genocide of 1971 still remains unrecognized, still forgotten in the echoes of world history.

In observance of the International Genocide Remembrance and with solemn respect to the forgotten genocide and victims of 1971, the Center for the Study of Genocide and Justice is organizing a panel discussion titled “The Forgotten Genocide of 1971: Recognition Through the Lens of Youth” on Tuesday, 9 December 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Seminar Room, Liberation War Museum.

We cordially invite everyone to join us for this meaningful discussion on the 1971Genocide, its recognition and the responsibility of the youth.
