NUB Multiverse Olympiad 1.0 — Grand Opening Ceremony

🦟 Community Awareness Program on Dengue Prevention | Malipara, Gazipur

Students of the Department of Public Health, Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) successfully conducted a community-based dengue prevention awareness campaign today in Malipara, Gazipur.

The program was graced by our Honorable Pro–Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sardar Mahmud Hossain, PhD, along with all faculty members of the Department of Public Health.

During the campaign, students informed local residents about essential dengue prevention measures, including:
✔ Keeping the surroundings clean
✔ Removing stagnant water
✔ Preventing water accumulation in flower pots, drums, cans, and tires
✔ Clearing bushes around the home
✔ Using mosquito protection in the early morning and evening

Residents were also encouraged to visit the nearest health center promptly if any dengue symptoms appear.

Prof. Dr. Sardar Mahmud Hossain highlighted the importance of such initiatives, saying:
“The goal of public health education is to bring positive change in health behavior. Field-level activities like this give students practical experience and contribute meaningfully to society.”

The campaign concluded with leaflet distribution and a collective call for community participation in preventing dengue.

🌿✨ A Journey of Learning, Service & Joy – Summer 2025 Practicum Trip ✨🌿

This Summer, the Department of Public Health, Northern University Bangladesh conducted a memorable 3-day practicum trip to Shrimongal, Sylhet with 84 MPH students. This is an experience that blended research, community service, and unforgettable memories. 💚

On the very first day (23rd August 2025), our students stepped into the community of the tea garden workers to collect data for their group research on “Knowledge regarding preparation, storage, and indication of oral rehydration salt among the tea garden workers.” Alongside this, they led an awareness campaign on the importance of proper handwashing to prevent communicable diseases. With guidance from our respected faculties, students not only shared knowledge but also demonstrated handwashing techniques—turning learning into action for the well-being of the community. 🙌✨

This journey wasn’t just about academic research. It was about community engagement, compassion, and real-life public health practice. Such trips every semester help our future public health leaders gain skills, confidence, and values that go far beyond the classroom. 🌍💡

More than a practicum, it was a time of joy, bonding, and rejuvenation—making the MPH journey truly unforgettable. 🌸📖
