Ever feel like advanced statistics, R, or econometrics is the only way to break into research? The good news is, it isnโt. By mastering a few highly practical skills such as active listening, structured document analysis, and thematic coding, you can become an exceptional qualitative or mixed-methods researcher and uncover the crucial "why" behind the numbers.
This training session will introduce those skills through the work of someone who has spent years doing qualitative research in complex public health settings.
Our speaker, A. M. Rumayan Hasan, works in the Urban Health unit at icddr,b's Health Systems and Population Studies Division. With training in Anthropology and Public Health, he has conducted qualitative research across urban Bangladesh. His work explores issues like healthcare access during COVID-19, physical activity among school children, and barriers to maternal and child nutrition services. His research involves direct engagement with communities, patients, caregivers, teachers, and policymakers to understand experiences that numbers alone cannot explain.
If youโve ever wondered how researchers study sensitive and complex human experiences beyond statistics, this session is for you.
Date: 20 May (tomorrow)
Time: 10:30 AM โ 12:00 PM
Venue: Room 5036
