Bangladesh Health Research Initiative (BHRI) was established in 2020 by Md Rashedur Rahman. Teamwork, Research and Innovation!

Its main objective is to support research aimed at the Bangladesh Health sector and motivate the enthusiastic young generation devoted to learning. The platform provides guidelines for those who pursue his/her higher study abroad. Initially, the organization started with only 7 people, now it is a family of around 40+ enthusiastic minds.

“Discovering how the immune system learns restraint.”

Mary E. Brunkow (USA), Fred Ramsdell (USA), এবং Shimon Sakaguchi (Japan),

(Institute for Systems Biology, Seattle, USA)
Her work onscurfy mice created a crucial link between genetics and immune regulation (Bennett et al., 2001).

𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐥, 𝐏𝐡𝐃
(Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, San Francisco, USA)
His studies bridged animal genetics to human pathology, confirming FOXP3 as the master regulator of immune tolerance (Bennett et al., 2001).

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐢
(Osaka University, Japan – Immunology Frontier Research Center)
Later, he demonstrated that the transcription factor FOXP3 is essential for Treg identity and function (Hori, Nomura & Sakaguchi, 2003).

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞
এটাই সেই ভারসাম্য — too much control → infection risk, too little → autoimmunity।

BREAKING NEWS
The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has decided to award the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell and Shimon Sakaguchi “for their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance.”

This year’s medicine laureates have discovered how the immune system is kept in check. The body’s powerful immune system must be regulated, or it may attack our own organs. Brunkow, Ramsdell and Sakaguchi have been awarded this year’s medicine prize for their groundbreaking discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance that prevents the immune system from harming the body.

The laureates identified the immune system’s security guards, regulatory T cells, which prevent immune cells from attacking our own body.

The laureates’ discoveries launched the field of peripheral tolerance, spurring the development of medical treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases. This may also lead to more successful transplantations. Several of these treatments are now undergoing clinical trials.
