I have been seeing multiple queries regarding GPA calculations and subject requirements in Alevels to study XYZ subject in undergrad. (A long awaited post duh)

The aim of this post is to clarify all these queries. ‼️

First things first, it is crucial that you know, “how to calculate your OWN GPA”.

How to calculate the GPA?

✨The GPA calculation grade scale is:
A=5,
B=4,
C=3,
D=2
E=1

‼️For Olevels take your BEST 5 subjects
Let’s say you have 3 A and 2B
Then your GPA is, (5+5+5+4+4) divided by 5

‼️And for Alevels:
If you have 2 subjects, and the grades are B and C, your CGPA will be 4+3 divided by 2

If three subjects with grades of A B B then 5+4+4 divided by 3

‼️The formula is, your grades converted into the GPA scale values, divided by the number of subjects.

💫Now coming to the second part, can I get into XYZ university with a D and E ? Or B and C? Does university accept an E grade?

-Yes universities accept upto one E grade.

✨The “MINIMUM” GPA for Olevels is, 2.5 with 5 Olevels subject and for Alevels GPA 2.0 with minimum 2 Alevels subject.

⚡️However, this is a minimum grade requirement, and it may or may not guarantee you admission in the university. You will be required to sit for an admission test at the university, on the basis of your all academic results and admission test performance, you will be evaluated and after that a university makes the decision regarding which subject you may be accepted for.

🪐Hence my recommendation would be, not to have any D/E grade in Alevels or Olevels. If by any chance you have it, try to retake it and improvise. Your grades will remain with you forever hence work hard for it.

⭐️As long as subject requirements is concerned: for this, please ALWAYS refer to your desired university website.

💫If you want to study BBA in private university, having any 2 alevels subjects will suffice.
However ideal combination of subjects will be, business with maths or accounting, law or even economics.

💫If you want to study CSE/EEE/B.arch: you will require alevels maths or physics, having both together will be much better and reduce the chances of rejection. (And a science olevels background with physics maths)

💫If you want to study biochem/microbiology: You need to have Chemistry and Biology in Alevels, besides having a science background in Olevels.

I hope this post will help you all!

Last but not the least, TRY TO RESEARCH ON YOUR OWN, as much as you can, before you choose any major/subject or anything, because no one can be in your shoes to evaluate a subject and its prospect for you, you gotta do it for yourself and on your own!!

As well as, TRY TO AVOID GED, no private uni accepts GED. If you want to secure your future, opt for Alevels, it may seem a difficult route but at the end its worth it, as it will lead you to a beautiful destination. And choose Alevels subject wisely, do not randomly overburden yourself with subjects which may add no value to your portfolio.

The following post will clear out your confusions regarding Edexcel IAL Business.

I have tried to jot down and explain as many queries as possible.

- I have seen plenty of queries where students often state whether they can take A'levels business without having it in O'levels. And whether a student with all science subjects in O'levels can take Business in Alevels.

Well, the answer is YES! You can take Business in Alevels without having this subject in O'levels. However, that being said, you will have to work a bit more than the students who already had business in O'levels. Since some of the contents will be similar in A'levels.

But, A'levels business is designed in such a way that even someone with ZERO prior business knowledge will be able to grasp it with the correct guidance.
Infact, I would say A'levels business contents are much better and well organized than O'levels.

The Edexcel IAL Business consists of 4 units.

Unit 1: Marketing and People

Unit 2 Managing business activities

Unit 3: Business decisions and Strategy

Unit 4: Global Business

Business as a subject is very interesting and will open up different opportunities for you in the future, not only that you will actually be able to apply this knowledge in your real life I.e. bizcomp.

Business papers are 80 marks worth which are later converted into 100 marks. And you will get 2 hours to complete the papers (units).

- How long should it take to complete Alevels business?

Person to person the time limit varies. However, rushing Alevels is not a wise thing to do and one should plan out his/her examination timeline properly.

If you have just two subjects in Alevels then 1.5years should be enough.
If you have more than two subjects, then you may require two years to completely finish your examinations.

- If I take business in Alevels, what are subjects that I can aim for in undergrad?

You will be eligible to opt for any business field, law field, English and environmental science field.

- Is it too difficult to get a good grade in IAL Business?

Yes and No! At first you need to define what is a good grade to you, A, B or C? Or a D? My suggestion will be to always aim for the highest grade.

Now after all this, plan out a routine for yourself and try to study atleast every single day even if it's for an hour.

Business is not an easy subject, it will definitely seem difficult for you if you do not put enough effort and dedication.

Understanding concepts in business is more important than just memorizing the Advantages and Disadvantages. Because business is just not about memorizing. It's more about understanding and implementing your learned knowledge by analysing the situations that you have been given. Thus, it is tough to refer it directly as an easy subject or difficult subject, because it will keep varying from person to person.

- What resources to use for IAL Business?
The Edexcel IAL Business book 1 for AS and Edexcel IAL Business book 2 for A2 will suffice. Beside this you can seek help from TUTOR2U website and YouTube channel. The glossary at each chapter end will be super beneficial for definition part.

- Should we practice Question paper for IAL Business?

Yes! Definitely, the more QP you will attempt the better knowledge you will have as well as your writing skills will improve. Also attempt the exam practice at each chapter end.

That's about it! Apologies if I have missed any points. If anyone have any other questions regarding business please drop down comments below I'll try to reply back.

Hello everyone, back with another informative post. For the last few days have been observing some queries on Alevels Law, and hence this post.

‼️The following post is intended to clear all sort of confusions regarding Edexcel IAL LAW‼️

First and foremost, lets talk about the number of papers/units Alevels Law has, time needed to complete this course as well as the number of chapters that we need to cover throughout the syllabus, and duration of the exams, easy or nah? And most important query, are we studying Bangladeshi Law? Indian Law or British Law? 🤦🏻‍♀️

- Edexcel Alevels Law has 2 papers only, namely:

‼️Paper 1 - The English Legal System (approx 21 Chapters)
‼️Paper 2 - Law in Action (this comprises of the branches of English Legal System such as Contract Law, Tort Law and Criminal Law) we have approx 28/30 chapters here (the number of chapters and division varies from teacher to teacher)

Each “Paper” Consists of 100 marks, the exam duration per paper is 3 hours, which means for Paper 1 you get 3hours, for Paper 2 you get 3hours.

Edexcel Alevels Law has no “marks conversion” it’s exactly what you get out of the 200 (i.e 2 papers combined)

For example: let’s say you get 75 in Paper 1 and 60 in Paper 2 then your total is 75+60 = 135 out of 200, and your grades will be based upon that, duh, Just Like The Olevels!!

❓Can you Split the Papers in 2 sessions? The answer is, NO! You cannot split paper 1 and Paper 2, you have to sit for both the papers in 1 sitting/session.

❓When is Alevels Law exam held? Edexcel Alevels Law Exams are held only once in a year, which is the May-June session

❓How long does it take to complete the syllabus? According to the specification, its supposed to be studied and completed in 2 years, however if you properly study 1year you should be good to go!

🟢In Edexcel Alevels Law we study “British Law”. Here we don’t study BD Law in Alevels, its a misconception by many!

⁉️How is Law as a Subject? Is it easy is it tough?
- Well, well, it depends and varies from person to person! Comparing law with any other subject will be a wrong thing to do. Most of the subjects we have in Alevels have 4 units or 6 units (lets not talk about accounting), where as Law as only 2 papers, and the number of chapters and the way of appearing for the papers is very different, as well as there is no conversion of marks either, so the moment you compare it with another typical Alevels Subject, you will endup drawing a wrong conclusion.

Before taking law, ask yourself, do you genuinely enjoy reading long paragraphs? Do you like memorizing? Are you good with analysing situations? Do you like writing? If the answer is YES, then you should opt for Law. If your answer is NO then think again, why are you taking law?

Law has tons of memorization, along with a fair share of analytical part.

For Paper 1 Memorizing will sail your boat, for Paper 2 you will need your learned knowledge and alongside you will require your Analytical skills to analyze the given cases/scenarios and use your learned knowledge to solve them.

‼️Law as a subject may give you an idea that this is one of the easiest subject in Alevels (indeed it is with some tricks) but in reality, to attain a good grade in this Subject you will need to WORK VERY HARD and SMART, you will need to put in alot of effort and be full of dedication. You need to be resilient all throughout this journey.

‼️In order to understand if law is the right subject for you or not, I will highly recommend you to do classes for a month (anywhere) and then test yourself!

‼️If you are aspiring to study law in the future (undergrad), then please please take Alevels Law! Half of your first year contents are gonna be similar to our Alevels Syllabus and hence your journey in the University will be easier!

‼️Also Students aspiring to study BBA/ undergrad in Business, you can also take alevels law. In BBA/any business undergrad, you will often have to do a course in law namely “business law/commercial law” which teaches you the contract law and basic system of law, and in Alevels Law we cover this too, which means having law in Alevels will allow you to stay one step ahead of othere!!

🔴If you have any other queries on law, feel free to drop the comment below, I will try to address other queries in my next post, or you can DM me your law concerns on which you might want to see a post in NC!

🔴In my next post I will try to cover the chapters name as well as some external reading books and tricks to ace law exams

🔴If you want similar post for Cambridge Law Comment Below with a “💕” emoji, I will provide a post on Cambridge Alevels Law too!!

1. Theories of Punishment (deterrent, retributive, rehabilitative theories, suspended and conditional discharge)

2. Delegated legislation (adv and disadv of DL, control by court and parliament, orders in council, statutory instruments, by laws)

3. Law and morality (distinction between law and morality, hart and devlin debate)
4. European Union (Regulations and directives, EU court of justice and commission)
5. Judicial Precedent (ratio decidendi, obiter dicta, stare decisis, avoidance of precedent, adv and disadv of JP, practice statement, operation of JP in CA civil)

6. Creating an Act of Parliament (the stages to create an act of parliament, adv and disadv of parliament law making)

7. Civil Dispute resolution (ADR, Court system, tribunal and ombudsman, know all the disadv and adv to write effectiveness)

10. Influences on law reform (reform by parliament, media and public opinion, pressure group and political party)

11. Statutory Interpretation (golden literal mischief and the effectiveness of each of them)

12. Positivism/Utilitarianism/Legal personality/funding available for taking legal action/remedies/sanctions

For 20 marks, please consider hart and devlin debate from law and morality, theories of punishment, jury and magistrates, effectiveness of civil dispute methods.

QUESTION PAPERS YOU SHOULD DO (if u have not already): May 2023, May 2018, May 2020, May 2017 and May 2019 and if you still have spare time opt for May 2021, and Oct 2019.

Seems almost like the syllabus eh? But consider the fact that it's a 100 marks exam, all of the points/places/sections I mentioned in the post above are seen to be repetitive in past exams. If you really want a good grade, your preparation needs to be top tier as well. Paper 1 is considered to be one of the papers where you can easily get marks, thus prepare well, and make sure all the contents are in your mind. Solve the past papers in this last hour and check your preparation. Without hard work nothing is achievable. Make the most out of these last moments, please do not restrict yourself with the above suggestions only.

TIPS 101 for IAL LAW PAPER 1 🌟

1. Use case references where available, and underline it!!

2. See the marks and answer accordingly do not randomly write answers

3. Now as it is the last minute I am assuming you have already sat for mocks and have good preparation. Thus, revise and revise NOW! See your mocks papers and find out the mistakes and try not to repeat the mistakes again

4. Learn time management, the three hours literally flies away!

5. Don't leave any answers un-attempted/blank, and take extra papers if needed. Do not be miser when it comes to writing for 20 mark.
