The YouthMappers at BMU family is deeply saddened by the news of Dr. Aftab Alam Khan's passing. As our former Faculty Advisor and ex-Department Head of the department of Oceanography and Hydrography, he steered us through many challenges with grace and expertise.

​His contributions and dedication for our chapter leave us with a void that will be hard to fill. We mourn the loss of a great educator and a father figure.

​"To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return."

​We pray for his eternal peace and for his soul to be granted Jannah.

পহেলা বৈশাখ নতুন শুরু, নতুন ভাবনা ও নতুন সম্ভাবনার প্রতীক। এই নববর্ষের চেতনা আমাদের কাজের ভাবনা ও দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিকে আরও অর্থবহ করে তোলে; যেখানে আমরা মানচিত্র ও তথ্যের মাধ্যমে বাস্তবতাকে আরও ভালোভাবে বুঝতে চেষ্টা করি এবং সেই জ্ঞান ব্যবহার করে আরও সংযুক্ত ও কার্যকরভাবে কাজ এগিয়ে নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করি।

নতুন বছর আমাদের শেখার পরিধি বাড়াক, সহযোগিতাকে আরও দৃঢ় করুক এবং ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তনের পথে আমাদের অগ্রযাত্রাকে আরও অর্থবহ করে তুলুক।

We are proud to highlight the impactful project "𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬, 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬, 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚, 𝐌𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐮𝐫".. designed, led, and implemented by Mohammad Azhar and Ahsan Habib Saimon, Project Coordinators of the Climate Resilience Fellowship – a joint initiative by Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT)’s Open Mapping Hub - Asia-Pacific and World Vision Bangladesh , funded by NetHope. Our dedicated members Fida Hasan , Abu Syed Al-Imam , Shanji Rahman and Shamin Rownok Sarder also got the opportunity to contribute this great initiative. They have coordinated the Participatory GIS, data collection and collaborative approach with the community.

The project focused on improving health awareness and mapping key community resources through participatory approaches. By working closely with residents, our team addressed everyday health challenges meaningfully. It combined community training with mapping essential amenities, increasing visibility for future support. Beyond numbers, it empowered residents to adopt healthier practices and take ownership of their wellbeing; reflecting a journey of leadership, collaboration and real impact.

Healthy Homes, Safer Futures: How an Informal Settlement Community in Mirpur Took Health Into Its Own Hands this initiative was designed, led, and implemented by Mohammad Azharul Islam our formal president as part of the Climate Resilience Fellowsh

We are proud to share that Team ''𝑴𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑴𝒐𝒗𝒆'', formed by members of our YouthMappers at the BMU chapter, successfully attended today's 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞!! Although there were 11 finalist teams, only a few were specially selected by the organizers to attend the Grand Finale based on the quality of their work and we are thrilled that our team was one of them✨

This year's Mapathon focused on strengthening multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster preparedness in Bangladesh, with Save the Children in Bangladesh also being a part of this initiative. A huge shout out to our mappers🎉 We, the 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐌𝐔 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲, are truly proud of them!!🤍

১৯৭১ সালের কথা ভাবলে গায়ে কাঁটা দিয়ে ওঠে। আমাদের মতোই তো বয়স ছিল তাদের! চোখে এক আকাশ স্বপ্ন, আর বুকে দেশের জন্য কিছু করার অদম্য জেদ। কোনো আধুনিক প্রযুক্তি বা শক্তিশালি অস্ত্রশস্ত্র ছাড়াই তারা অসাধ্য সাধন করেছিল। বাংলার কাদামাটি, নদী আর আকাশই ছিল তাদের সবচেয়ে আপন। তারা শুধু একটা স্বাধীন ভূখণ্ডই ছিনিয়ে আনেনি, নিজেদের বুকের রক্ত দিয়ে এঁকে দিয়ে গেছে আমাদের এই লাল-সবুজের মানচিত্র।

স্বাধীনতার ৫৫ বছর পর, আজ সেই মানচিত্রের বুকেই আমরা দাঁড়িয়ে আছি। YouthMappers BMU-এর তরুণ হিসেবে আমরা হয়তো প্রতিদিন দেশের ভৌগোলিক মানচিত্র নিয়ে কাজ করি, কিন্তু আমাদের সবার মনের ভেতরের লক্ষ্য একটাই— স্বপ্নের একটা সুন্দর বাংলাদেশের মানচিত্র গড়া।
তাঁরা যে সীমানা আমাদের দিয়ে গেছেন, তাকে মেধা আর পরিশ্রমে আরও সমৃদ্ধ করার দায়িত্ব এখন আমাদের।

২৬ শে মার্চ,সবুজের জমিনে রক্তিম সূর্য খচিত মানচিত্রের বাংলাদেশের মহান স্বাধীনতা দিবসে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সকল মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের প্রতি আমাদের বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধা।
