"𝐆𝐔𝐁 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐘-2024"

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the GUB Annual Research Publication Award Ceremony 2024, organized by CRIT, held on 23 October 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Syndicate Room (A 409). The event was organized to celebrate and honor the remarkable research achievements of GUB faculty, focusing on recognizing those who have made significant contributions through high-quality publications. This initiative aims to further motivate and inspire our researchers to continue producing groundbreaking work.
We were honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Khondkar Siddique-e-Rabbani, Honorary Professor at the University of Dhaka, as the Guest of Honor for the ceremony. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honorable Vice Chancellor of GUB, and Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor of GUB, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Special Guest, respectively. The session was chaired by Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu, Director of CRIT.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu, who set the tone for the ceremony and provided insightful research statistics. This was followed by a presentation by Ms. Zinat Sultana, Assistant Professor, Green Business School and Coordinator, CRIT, who gave an overview of CRIT’s accomplishments and highlighted some of GUB’s key successes in research and innovation.
Building on this momentum, the Special Guest, Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, took the stage in the next segment to acknowledge the significant contributions from various departments and encouraged faculty members to focus on high-quality research that promotes academic growth and innovation.
The ceremony transitioned into the eagerly awaited awards segment, where faculty members from two divisions—the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences, Law, and Business Studies, were honored for their exceptional contributions to research and innovation. Awards were given across three categories: Outstanding Research Award, Research Excellence Award, and Research Award. A total of 29 journal publications indexed in SCOPUS and Web of Science were recognized in 2024. Among the distinguished awardees, 12 received the prestigious Research Award, 10 were honored with the esteemed Research Excellence Award, and 7 were celebrated for their exceptional contributions with the Outstanding Research Award. In recognition of these scholarly accomplishments, a total of BDT 716,400 in prize money was announced to distribute, reflecting the institution’s unwavering commitment to advancing research and academic excellence.
In addition to these categories, CRIT also paid special tribute to researchers whose work has had a profound global impact. Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu was once again celebrated for his exceptional achievements, having been listed among the top 2% of the world’s most highly cited researchers for the third consecutive year (2022, 2023, and 2024). In recognition of his contributions, he was presented with a commemorative crest by the Guest of Honor.
Afterward, the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin captivated the audience with an inspiring address. He emphasized the crucial role of research in pushing the boundaries of emerging technologies and advancing innovative solutions. Following his address, the Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. Khondkar Siddique-e-Rabbani, shared his experiences in solving real-world problems with modern technology, illustrating how research can solve practical issues in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape. Together, their insights illustrated the transformative power of research in shaping a more advanced and solution-oriented future.
The session gracefully concluded with heartfelt words of gratitude from the session chair, Dr. Lipu, whose sincere vote of thanks resonated warmly with everyone present.

"𝐌𝐨𝐔 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐔𝐁 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐈𝐔"

With immense pleasure, we would like to share that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) and United International University (UIU) on 7 October 2024, at 3:00 PM, at the UIU campus. The event aimed to strengthen collaborative research initiatives between institutions, enhancing academic and practical contributions to various fields of study. This MoU shall be implemented under the joint coordination authority of the Center for Research Innovation and Transformation (CRIT-GUB) and the Institute for Advanced Research (IAR- UIU).
The MoU, signed by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of GUB, and Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of UIU, solidifies our commitment to collaboration and innovation.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished members of the Green University of Bangladesh, including Hon. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Registrar, Captain (Navy) S M Salahuddin, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Science, Prof. Dr. M Shahidullah, Chairperson of Dept. of CSE, Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Chairperson of Green Business School, Mr. Mahmud Wahid, Director of CRIT, Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu and Coordinator of CRIT, Ms. Zinat Sultana.
Representing the UIU were Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor, Deans and Directors of different Departments and Sections, and Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Research (IAR), Professor Emeritus Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, who played instrumental roles in facilitating the collaboration between the two institutions.
The terms and conditions of the MoU stipulate that UIU/IAR will issue calls for research grants in accordance with its internal award cycle, inviting GUB core faculty, through CRIT, to engage in UIU-funded collaborative research projects. GUB/CRIT core faculty may serve as either Principal Investigators or Co-Investigators; when a GUB faculty member acts as Principal Investigator, the cost-sharing will be 50% from UIU and 50% from GUB, while no cost-sharing is required when serving as Co-Investigator.
The research MoU between GUB and UIU is significant as it fosters collaborative efforts that enhance the quality and scope of academic research, leveraging the strengths of both institutions. This partnership not only facilitates innovative projects but also promotes knowledge exchange and resource sharing, ultimately contributing to the advancement of research.

A seminar on “The Art of Research: Strategies for Writing, Publishing, and Protecting Intellectual Property” has been successfully organized by the Green University Center for Research Innovation & Transformation (CRIT) on Thursday, 26 September 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in room: A 302. This seminar was a collaborative initiative with the IEEE PES Student Branch chapter, Green University of Bangladesh (GUB).

We were honored that Prof. Dr. Naruttam Kumar Roy, Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) enriched the seminar as the Keynote Speaker. Honorable Vice-Chancellor of GUB, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin graced the event as the Chief Guest. The session was chaired by Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu, Director, CRIT and Associate Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, GUB.

With a warm smile, the Honorable Vice Chancellor commenced the session, extending heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished speaker, esteemed guests, and the eager participants who filled the room with anticipation. He spoke with conviction, underscoring the immense value of the seminar not only for the dedicated faculty but also for the future professionals in the audience. He highlighted how mastering the art of scientific writing and publishing in high-impact journals serves as a cornerstone for upholding the dignity and academic prestige of the University, encouraging all to embrace the journey of scholarly contribution with enthusiasm and rigor. Following handing over the token of appreciation to the keynote speaker by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, the main session of the seminar commenced.

This talk was focused on the multifaceted art of research, focusing on three critical aspects: writing, publishing, and protecting intellectual property (IP). The session covered key stages of the research paper writing process, including how to structure a paper effectively, craft a clear and impactful abstract, select appropriate journals, and understand the peer-review process. It also addressed common challenges researchers face and provided solutions to navigate the peer-review process. Additionally, the talk highlighted the importance of protecting IP through patents. By the end of this session, attendees gathered a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively write, publish, and protect their research, ensuring that their intellectual contributions make a lasting impact. In the Q-A session, the participants got some clear clues from the speaker about their queries.

The seminar concluded on a high note with an inspiring address from the Session Chair, Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu. He highlighted the critical role of high-quality research publications in bolstering the University’s reputation and elevating its global ranking. Dr. Lipu shared key initiatives undertaken by GUB to foster a culture of academic excellence, ensuring that both faculty and students are well-equipped to meet the challenges of today’s scholarly world. To further motivate the audience, he proudly referenced recent groundbreaking achievements in research and innovation at GUB, underscoring the institution’s growing influence. In his closing remarks, he expressed deep appreciation for the keynote speaker’s invaluable contribution, acknowledging that the insights shared would undoubtedly empower faculty members and students alike in their pursuit of creative writing and publishing in high-impact journals.

চাইনিজ গবেষকরা নেচার বা সাইন্স জার্নাল কিংবা প্রায় কাছাকাছি মানের জার্নালে গবেষণপত্র প্রকাশ করলে চাইনিজ একাডেমি অফ সায়েন্স অথরদের ৩০ হাজার ডলার পুরস্কার দেয়। কিছু গবেষক এই ধরনের "অর্থ " দিয়ে তাদের আয়ের অর্ধেক আয় করছেন। আমাদের বুয়েটও Q১ মানের প্রতিটি গবেষণপত্রের জন্য ১ লক্ষ ৫০ হাজার টাকা দেয়। আমাদের মত দেশে এই ধরণের প্রণোদনা খারাপ না। কিন্তু ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এখনো এই বিষয়ে কোন উদ্যোগ নেয়নি। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে নেচার আর সাইন্স জার্নালে আর্টিকেল প্রকাশ করলে যেইভাবে মূল্যায়ন করে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জার্নাল অফ সাইন্স জার্নালে প্রকাশ করলেও একইভাবে এক সমান হিসাবে মূল্যায়ন করে। এই দেশে মানুষ ভালো কাজ কেন করবে?

চাইনিজরা ভালো কাজের ভালো মূল্যায়ন করে বলেই তারা দুর্বার গর্তিতে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে। আর আমাদের দেশে খারাপ কাজকে বেশি মূল্যায়ন করে বলে আমরা দুর্বার গতিতে পিছিয়ে পড়ছি।
