ICMAB Delegation Calls on Honorable Minister for Finance
A delegation from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), led by its President Mr. Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, on May 18, 2026, at his office in Dhaka.
During the meeting, the ICMAB delegation briefed the Honorable Minister on the Instituteโs ongoing activities, professional development initiatives, and its continued contributions toward industrialization, cost optimization, and strengthening financial governance in Bangladesh. The discussion emphasized the importance of enhancing industrial efficiency and reinforcing the strategic role of Cost and Management Accountants (CMAs) in supporting trade competitiveness and sustainable economic growth.
The delegation highlighted several priorities relating to the advancement of the CMA profession and sought the Ministryโs continued support in expanding the engagement of professional CMAs to promote transparency, financial statement certification, cost control, productivity enhancement, and evidence-based decision-making across industries.
The Honorable Minister highly appreciated the significant contributions of CMAs to the national economy and assured the delegation of his full cooperation in strengthening institutional collaboration and supporting the continued development of the profession.

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University on May 14, 2026, at the University campus. The agreement marks a significant step toward strengthening academic collaboration and promoting the Cost and Management Accounting (CMA) profession through closer engagement between academia and the professional body.
The MoU was signed by Mr. S. M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Vice President of ICMAB, and Professor Dr. Shakhawat Hossain Sarkar, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU). The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both institutions. From ICMAB, attendees included Dr. Md. Mamunur Rashid FCMA, Associate Professor and Head of the Research and Publication Department; Mr. Md. Mumlook Hossain FCA, FCMA (F-0761) and Mr. Md. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director (AAD). Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University was represented by Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Zainul Abedin Siddique, Treasurer and Professor Dr. Md. Mijanur Rahman Registrar (in-charge) of JKKNIU; along with other senior faculty members. More than 250 students were also present at the event.
Under the MoU, students and graduates of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University will be eligible for course exemptions and admission scholarships in the CMA program, thereby enhancing access to professional accounting education. The agreement also establishes a framework for joint academic initiatives, research collaboration, seminars, and knowledge-sharing programs aimed at developing future-ready professionals.
During the program, Dr. Md. Mamunur Rashid FCMA presented papers on โCMA Choice: Your Future Professional Career (An Exciting Success Route)โ. He emphasized the career advantages of obtaining a CMA qualification, particularly for leadership roles in modern business organizations.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of JKKNIU Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam expressed appreciation to ICMAB for initiating the collaboration, while the Vice President of ICMAB highlighted the importance of such partnerships in bridging academic learning with professional practice.
Participants expressed strong optimism that the MoU would strengthen academicโprofessional linkages, enhance the recognition of the CMA qualification, and contribute meaningfully to the development of the accounting profession and the broader economy of Bangladesh.
The program was successfully organized with the wholehearted cooperation of the Instituteโs Fellow Member and Professor of the Department of Accounting at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Dr. Prahallad Chandra Das FCMA.

The Council Members of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) actively participated in the Board Meeting and various Committee Meetings of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), held on Friday, 8 May 2026, at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore, Pakistan. The meetings were hosted by the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP).
Mr. Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, President of ICMAB and SAFA Board Member, along with Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA, Council Member and Past President of ICMAB and Advisor to the SAFA Board Member, attended the SAFA Board Meeting held in the afternoon.
Earlier in the day, seven committee meetings were held at different meeting rooms of the Pearl Continental Hotel. Senior representatives of ICMAB joined different SAFA committees both in person and virtually, contributing to deliberations on professional development, public sector accounting, ethics, economic affairs, leadership, and regional cooperation among professional accounting bodies in South Asia.
Mr. Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA, Vice President of ICMAB, represented the Institute at the Governmental and Public Sector Enterprises Accounting Committee Meeting; Mr. S.M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Vice President of ICMAB, attended the Public Relations Committee Meeting; Mr. Monjur Md. Shafiul Azam FCMA, Secretary of ICMAB, participated in the Committee on Professional Accountants in Business Meeting; and Mr. Arif Khan FCMA, Council Member and Past President of ICMAB, attended the Economic Advisory Committee Meeting in person.
Meanwhile, Ms. Zinnia Tanzina Huq FCMA, Council Member of ICMAB, joined the Women Leadership Committee Meeting; Mr. Imtiaz Alam FCMA, Council Member of ICMAB, participated in the Accounting Standards Committee Meeting; and Dr. Syed Abdulla Al Mamun FCMA, Council Member of ICMAB, joined the Professional Ethics and Independence Committee Meeting virtually.
Prior to these meetings, the SAFA Small and Medium Practices Committee Meeting was held virtually on 30 April 2026, where Mr. S.M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Vice President of ICMAB, represented the Institute. Subsequently, on 5 May 2026, Professor Dr. Musfiqur Rahman FCMA, Treasurer of ICMAB, represented the Institute virtually at the meeting of the SAFA Committee on Education, Training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
The meetings focused on strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing professional standards, promoting ethical practices, and advancing the role of professional accountants in economic and public sector development across the SAFA region. The active participation of ICMAB representatives reaffirmed the Instituteโs continued commitment to contributing to the development of the accounting profession at both regional and international levels.

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), in collaboration with the CMA Bangladesh Tigers Toastmasters Clubโthe first Toastmasters Club in Bangladeshโcelebrated the Clubโs 14th Anniversary on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the ICMAB Ruhul Quddus Auditorium, Dhaka.
Mr. Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, President of ICMAB, attended the program as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of communication, public speaking, and leadership skills for professional excellence. He encouraged ICMAB members, particularly young CMAs, to join Toastmasters International to further develop these essential competencies.
Mr. Md. Golam Dastagir Jony DTM, Program Quality Director, District 124 (covering Bangladesh, Bhutan, and parts of India) of Toastmasters International, attended the program as the Special Guest. The event was also attended by prominent Toastmasters and CMA professionals, including Mr. Fayez Uddin Ahmad DTM, Division B Director; Mr. Mohammad Safiullah FCMA, DTM, Sponsor and Mentor of CMA Bangladesh Tigers Toastmasters Club; Mr. Mainuddin Ahmed FCMA, DTM, Charter Member and Past President of the Club; along with the current Club President, Past Presidents, members of the Club, Toastmasters dignitaries, CMAs, and other distinguished guests.
A keynote speech titled โYour Voice, Your Career, Your Future โ Unlock it at Toastmasters!โ was delivered by Dr. Jamal Uddin Jamy, PhD, DTM, a renowned leadership coach and TEDx speaker. His insightful presentation inspired participants to enhance their communication and leadership capabilities for personal and professional growth.
The program featured the anniversary celebration, a keynote session, and a Toastmasters demonstration meeting designed to engage participants and showcase the benefits of joining Toastmasters in developing communication, leadership, and public speaking skills.
Toastmasters International, established in the USA in 1924, is a globally recognized non-profit educational organization dedicated to improving communication and leadership skills. With a presence in nearly 150 countries, it offers a supportive, learn-by-doing environment where members practice public speaking, impromptu communication, and leadership development.
The event concluded with enthusiastic participation and reaffirmed ICMABโs commitment to fostering holistic professional development among its members through strategic collaboration and capacity-building initiatives.

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), through its Career Management Cell (CMC), organized its first strategic meeting with leading HR and talent management firms on May 14, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Council Room of ICMA Bhaban, Dhaka.
The meeting was arranged as part of CMCโs ongoing initiative to build sustainable partnerships with industry stakeholders and to further strengthen ICMABโs presence in both national and global job markets. Representatives from 15 prominent HR firms engaged in executive search, headhunting, recruitment, and capacity-building activities participated in the session.
The primary objective of the meeting was to bridge the gap between the supply of highly skilled financial professionals and the evolving demands of the corporate sector. Discussions focused on ICMABโs recent capacity-building initiatives, the professional competencies of CMAsโparticularly in strategic decision-making, cost management, financial leadership, and business advisoryโand the scope for enhanced collaboration between ICMAB and HR firms.
Participants also explored practical avenues to improve access to ICMABโs talent pool, including its members and students, and to align professional training outcomes with market-driven recruitment strategies. Both sides expressed strong optimism that such collaboration would play a significant role in elevating corporate leadership standards and strengthening the talent ecosystem in Bangladesh.
The meeting was graced by Mr. Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, President of ICMAB, along with Mr. S. M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Vice President; Mr. Monjur Md. The interactive and insightful discussions laid a strong foundation for developing long-term strategic partnerships between ICMAB and the HR industry. Participants emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to enhance the ICMAB brand in both local and international job markets through professional excellence, industry relevance, and talent development.
