The UIU Mars Rover Team is composed of students CSE & EEE of UIU who are members of the UIU Robotics Club. This team contains excellent enthusiastic people working in several fields of robotics and automation, such as embedded systems, reinforcement learning, autonomous navigation, drones, 3D design and simulation, detection of life in soil and rock samples, etc. The research team is directly supervised by Lecturer Akib Zaman, Department of CSE of UIU. They made the rover "Maven" which is able to perform tasks like collecting samples such as dust, soil, and rocks for the purpose of testing. The members of the team are divided into 6 subteams named Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Communication, Science, and Management. The vision of this team is to expand the space robotics research in Bangladesh and demonstrate high-quality robotic systems in reputed international competitions during the growth. Each of the team members is responsible for a different aspect of the rover and we’ve put every effort into making it as perfect as possible. The team has secured 13th place out of all 36 Finalists and 1st among the Asian teams in the prestigious University Rover Challenge (URC) 2022. held from 2nd-4th June in the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in southern Utah, USA.
