বর্তমানে বৈশ্বিক করোনা পরিস্থিতি মানসিক স্বাস্থ্যের অবনতি ঘটাচ্ছে। এর ফলে প্রতিনিয়তই আত্মহত্যা প্রবণতা বেড়েই চলেছে । এক্ষেত্রে আত্মহত্যা রোধে আমাদের সকলের ভূমিকায় খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

প্রায় সব আত্মহত্যা বা আত্মহত্যা প্রচেষ্টাকারী , প্রচেষ্টার পূর্বে কোন না কোন ভাবে দ্বিতীয় কোন পক্ষকে তার আত্মহত্যার পরিকল্পনা জানিয়ে থাকে !!!
যেমনঃ ফেসবুকে পোষ্ট দিয়ে , কাওকে ফোন করে , গল্পের ছলে, হাসি ঠাট্টার মাধ্যমে, ডাইরি লিখে ইত্যাদি। একটি জরুরী প্রশ্নের উত্তর সকলেরই জেনে রাখা উচিত ।
আপনি কি করবেন ? যখন আপনি দেখছেন বা শুনছেন কেও একজন জীবন মৃত্যুর বডার লাইনে (আত্মহত্যার মুখোমুখি) দাড়িয়ে আছে ???
একটি উদাহরন দিয়েই শুরু করা যাক - টাইটেনিক মুভিটা একবার ও দেখেন নি এমন কাওকে খুঁজে পাওয়া কষ্টকর । মুভির হিরো "জ্যাক" , হিরোইন "রোজ" । আসুন একটু কল্পার জগতে প্রবেশ করি ,,,, মুভির এক পর্যায়ে রোজ জাহাজের ডেকের সামনে রেলিং ধরে দাড়িয়ে । সেই সময় প্রচন্ড দন্দ কাজ করছিল তার মনের গহীনে । সিগারেট খেতে বাইরে এসে জ্যাক রীতিমতো হতবাক । সে দেখতে পেল একটি যুবতী মেয়ে আত্মহত্যার চুড়ান্ত প্রস্তুতি গ্রহণ করছে । অতঃপর সে এগিয়ে গেল সেই রমনীর দিকে এবং সে তার সাথে কথা বলতে থাকল , সিগারেট ফেলার নাম করে তার দিকে এগিয়ে গেল ধীরে ধীরে । এরপর শুধুমাত্র কথার জালে আটকিয়ে তাকে উদ্ধার করল সেই পরিস্থিতিতে থেকে (কষ্ট করে মুভির এই অংশটি দেখলে পরিষ্কার ধারনা পাবেন ) । যার পরবর্তী প্রেম কাহিনী অত্যান্ত মধুর , যাই হউক প্রেমের গল্প বলতে আসিনি !
অর্থাৎ মূল কথা , তার সাথে যে কোন মূল্যে কথা চালিয়ে যেতে হবে । তবে খুবই সতর্কতার সাথে যেমনঃ আচ্ছা, আপনি আত্মহত্যা করতে চান , আমি বাধা দিচ্ছিনা না , তবে আমি আপনার কষ্টের কথা গুলো শুনতে ভিশন আগ্রহী, আপনি কি একটু বলবেন আমাকে , আমার দুঃখের কথা গুলো জানতে ইচ্ছা করছে , কেও একজন কে ত জানিয়ে জান আপনার মনের বেদনার কথা ! এইভাবে কনভেন্স করে কথা শুরু করা যেতে পারে । রাগ যেমন সময়ের সাথে রিমুভ হয় , কষ্ট (হতাশা বা বিষণ্ণতা) নামক আবেগ ও একই রকম । কথা বলতে থাকলে নিশ্চই সে আগের থেকে শান্ত হবে । একটি গবেষণা বলছে অত্যন্ত ৪০ সেকেন্ড কথা চালিয়ে যেতে পারলে তার মনোযোগ কিছুটা ফিরিয়ে আনা সম্ভব। তখন আপনি তার জীবনের গল্প বিস্তারিত শোনার চেষ্টা করতে পারেন । এর ফাঁকেই কাওকে ছোট করে মেসেজ পাঠিয়ে দিতে পারেন ঘটনা স্থলে আসার জন্য বা ফোন দিয়ে আপনাদের কথপোকথন শোনাতে পারেন । নিশ্চই এতক্ষনে কেও আসবে । আর এই ভাবেই বাঁচে যেতে পারে একটি প্রাণ , একটি জীবনের গল্প । এই যাত্রাই বেঁচে গেলও পরবর্তী যাত্রা থেকে বিরত রাখতে দ্রুত কোন ভাল সাইকিয়াট্রি বা সাইকোলজিষ্টের শরণাপন্ন হতে হবে । যিনি সমস্যাগ্রস্ত ব্যক্তিকে স্বাভাবিক জীবনে ফিরিয়ে আনতে সহায়তা করবেন।
পরিশেষে বলতেন চাই, আশেপাশের মানুষগুলোর ছোট ছোট আবেগের গুরুত্ব দিন । কেউ কোন কষ্টের কথা বলতে চাইলে কখনোই অবহেলা করবেন না । হয়ত সেই অবহেলায় তাকে আত্মহত্যার পথে আরও একধাপ এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে ।
সুতরাং তাকে বুঝতে দিন আপনি তার পাশে আছেন। কেউ না বুঝলেও আপনি তাকে বোঝেন । তার কথা গুলো মনোযোগ সহকারে শুনুন (কোন ধরনের জাজমেন্ট ব্যতীত), গলার স্বর নরম (এমপ্যাথেটিক) রেখে কথা বলুন , তার জীবনের ইতিবাচক দিক গুলো তুলে ধরুন , নতুন ভাবে জীবন শুরু করার পথ আছে এই নিশ্চয়তা দিন।

১৯৩০ সাল থেকে প্রতি বছর অগাস্টের ২০ তারিখে ‘বিশ্ব মশা দিবস’ হিসেবে পালিত হচ্ছে। ‘বিশ্ব মশা দিবস ২০২১’ এর প্রতিপাদ্য ‘শূন্য ম্যালেরিয়া লক্ষ্যে পৌঁছানো‘। (‘Reaching the zero malaria target’)।

মানুষের বিভিন্ন ভয়াবহ অসুখের মধ্যে মশা বাহিত ম্যালেরিয়া, ডেঙ্গু, চিকুনগুনিয়া, ফাইলেরিয়া, জিকা, ও জাপানিজ এনসেফালাইটিস উল্লেখযোগ্য। তাই মশাবাহিত রোগের ক্ষতিকর প্রভাব সম্পর্কে জনসাধারণকে বিশেষভাবে সচেতন করার জন্য এই দিবস সারা বিশ্ব জুড়ে পালিত হয়। মশাবাহিত রোগ থেকে সাবধান হওয়ার জন্য, সতর্কতামূলক ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার জন্য এই দিনে সমগ্র বিশ্ব জুড়ে সচেতনতামূলক কর্মসূচি পালন করা হয়।

আজ বিশ্ব মশা দিবসে মশা নিয়ে ১০টি তথ্য জেনে নিন-

১. মশা এক প্রকারের ছোট মাছি প্রজাতির পতঙ্গ। মশা নেমাটোসেরা মাছি বর্গের অন্তর্ভুক্ত। একটি মশার ওজন সাধারণত ২.৫ মিলিগ্রাম হয়ে থাকে।

২. একটি মশার জীবনচক্র চারটি পর্যায়ে বিভক্ত: ডিম, শূক, মুককীট, এবং পূর্ণাঙ্গ মশা।

৩. শুধুমাত্র স্ত্রী মশারাই স্তন্যপায়ী প্রাণী, পাখি, সরীসৃপ, উভচর প্রাণী এবং এমনকি কিছু মাছের রক্ত পান করে থাকে। পুরুষ মশারা কিন্তু মানুষ বা প্রাণীদের কামড়ায় না কিংবা রক্ত শোষণ করে না। একটি মশা একবারে ০.০০১ থেকে ০.০১ মিলিলিটার রক্ত পান করতে পারে। একবারে একজন পূর্ণবয়স্ক মানুষের শরীরের সব রক্ত শোষণ করে ফেলতে মোট ১২ লক্ষ মশা প্রয়োজন।

৪. ডিম থেকে পূর্ণাঙ্গ মশা হতে সময় লাগে পাঁচ দিনের মতো, কিন্তু বেশির ভাগ ক্ষেত্রে পূর্ণাঙ্গ মশা হতে সময় লাগে ৪০ দিন বা কিছু কিছু প্রজাতির ক্ষেত্রে আরও বেশি। একটা মশা প্রায় ৫ থেকে ৬ মাস বেঁচে থাকতে পারে।

৫. স্ত্রী মশা জলের উপরে উপর নীচে উড়াউড়ি করে এবং পানিতে ডিম ছাড়ে। স্ত্রী মশা মশা বদ্ধ জলে বা জলাশয়ে ডিম পাড়ে। পূর্ণাঙ্গ একটি স্ত্রী মশা তার জীবনচক্রে ১০০-২০০টি ডিম দিতে পারে।

৬. মশার কোনো দাঁত নেই। মশা মুককীত তার পেটের সাহায্যে সাঁতার কাটতে পারে।

৭. মশার ডানাগুলো প্রতি সেকেণ্ডে প্রায় ৩০০ থেকে ৬০০ বার পর্যন্ত ঝাপটায়। মশারা সাধারণত, ঘণ্টায় ১০০ থেকে ১৫০ মাইল পর্যন্ত গতিবেগে উড়তে পারে।

৮. পৃথিবীতে ৩,৫০০ এর বেশি প্রজাতির মশা রয়েছে।

৯. পৃথিবীতে সবথেকে ভয়ঙ্কর রোগের জীবানুগুলির বেশির ভাগ মশার মাধ্যমে ছড়ায়। মশা ভয়ঙ্কর রোগজীবাণু সংক্রামক। মশার মাধ্যমে ম্যালেরিয়া, ডেঙ্গু, ফাইলেরিয়া, পীত জ্বর, জিকা ভাইরাস প্রভৃতি রোগ হয়ে থাকে।

১০. প্রতিবছর প্রায় ৫১.৫ কোটি মানুষ মশাবাহিত রোগে আক্রান্ত হন এবং প্রায় দশ থেকে ত্রিশ লক্ষ মানুষ প্রাণ হারান যাদের মধ্যে বেশিরভাগই আফ্রিকার সাহারা অঞ্চলের শিশু।

Word Lung Cancer Day(Sun, Aug 1st, 2021)

Lung cancer continues to be one of the most common cancers worldwide, claiming more lives yearly than breast, colon, and prostate cancers combined. It is estimated that lung cancer accounts for nearly one in five cancer deaths globally. In 2012, there were 1.8 million newly diagnosed cases of lung cancer alone.
The American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST), alongside members of the Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) commemorates, celebrates and supports those impacted by lung cancer. FIRS joins the grassroots efforts of the lung cancer community to raise awareness about lung cancer and its global impact, creating an educational movement of understanding lung cancer risks as well as early treatment around the world.

The History of World Lung Cancer Day:
Lung cancer was a rare disease in early 20th century but its incidence has gradually increased with increased smoking and it has become the most common type of cancer in the world. The lung cancers accounts for 12.8% of cancer cases and 17.8% of mortalities of cancer worldwide. Lung cancer is a preventable disease. The factors that play a role in cancer development include to***co products, industrial products (uranium, radiation, asbestos) air pollution, and nutritional deficiencies. Recent studies have demonstrated that the critical factor increasing the risk of lung cancer is the long-term respiration of carcinogenic materials.
Epidemiological case-control studies by 1950s proved that smoking was strongly correlated with lung cancer. The first findings that smoking was a cause of lung cancer were published in 1962. Smoking is responsible for developing lung cancer by 94%. The risk of lung cancer is 24-36 times higher in smokers than in non-smokers. The risk is 3.5% in passive smoking. Age to start smoking, period of smoking, number of ci******es smoked, and type of to***co and cigarette have influence on the risk of developing lung cancer.
The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) is the world’s largest meeting dedicated to lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies. More than 7,000 delegates come from more than 100 countries to discuss the latest developments in thoracic malignancy research. Attendees include surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pulmonologists, radiologists, pathologists, epidemiologists, basic research scientists, nurses and allied health professionals and patients.

How to Celebrate World Lung Cancer Day:
It is important that IASLC members help communicate the vast threat lung cancer poses around the world. They need the public and the media to understand that new research, diagnosis and treatment breakthroughs in the last 10 years have brought new hope to patients and their families. To help spread the message about lung cancer, the IASLC created a series of fact sheets focusing on different regions around the globe and have translated them into several different languages. You could look up some of these and inform friends and family about the risks and factors contributing to them.

Force :
In physics, a force is any influence that, when unopposed, will change the motion of an object. A force can cause an object with mass to change its velocity (which includes to begin moving from a state of rest), i.e., to accelerate. Force can also be described intuitively as a push or a pull. A force has both magnitude and direction, making it a vector quantity. It is measured in the SI unit of newton . Force is represented by the symbol F (formerly P).

The original form of Newton's second law states that the net force acting upon an object is equal to the rate at which its momentum changes with time. If the mass of the object is constant, this law implies that the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting on the object, is in the direction of the net force, and is inversely proportional to the mass of the object.

Concepts related to force include: thrust, which increases the velocity of an object; drag, which decreases the velocity of an object; and torque, which produces changes in rotational speed of an object. In an extended body, each part usually applies forces on the adjacent parts; the distribution of such forces through the body is the internal mechanical stress. Such internal mechanical stresses cause no acceleration of that body as the forces balance one another. Pressure, the distribution of many small forces applied over an area of a body, is a simple type of stress that if unbalanced can cause the body to accelerate. Stress usually causes deformation of solid materials, or flow in fluids.

The idea of Friendship Day was first introduced by the founder of Hallmark cards, Joyce Hal, in 1920. The day was celebrated by exchanging greeting cards, but it was in 1958 that Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho coined the term ‘Friendship Day’ and started a foundation called The World Friendship Crusade.
The World Friendship Crusade tried for many years to persuade the United Nations to recognise July 30 as World Friendship Day and finally in 2011, the General Assembly of the UN declared July 30 as the International Day of Friendship.

Light, electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the human eye. " The beginning of World War I "
-28July,1914

World War I or the First World War, often abbreviated as WWI or WW1, was a global war originating in Europe that lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918. Also known as The Great War or "The war to end all wars", it led to the mobilisation of more than 70 million military personnel, including 60 million Europeans, making it one of the largest wars in history. It also was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, with an estimated 8.5 million combatant deaths and 13 million civilian deaths as a direct result of the war, while resulting genocides and the related 1918 Spanish flu pandemic caused another 17–100 million deaths worldwide, including an estimated 2.64 million Spanish flu deaths in Europe and as many as 675,000 in the United States.

A month before the war began, on June 28, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and his wife Sophie had been assassinated during a trip to Bosnia. Initial outrage was strong, as were fears that this would be the instigating event for the European war that had been looming for years. But as the days and weeks passed without Austria-Hungary retaliating against Serbia (whom they believed to be behind the assassination plot), some began to breathe a sigh of relief.

But then, on July 23, Austria-Hungary issued an ultimatum to Serbia with various demands regarding Serbia’s response to the assassination and the country’s future relationship with Austria-Hungary. Serbia accepted many of the demands but refused to allow Austria-Hungary to be involved in its judicial process for Serbians connected to the assassination. Thus rejected, the Austro-Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia on July 28.

Russia (a champion of Serbia and its Slavic population) began mobilization of its troops, which prompted Germany (an ally of Austria-Hungary) to declare war on Russia. In quick succession, the system of alliances (and territorial ambitions) within Europe led Germany to also declare war on France and Britain, Britain and France to declare war on Germany, and Russia to declare war on Germany and Austria-Hungary.

Within a week, five major countries in Europe were embroiled in a war they believed would be over in a matter of months. Many other nations would eventually join the conflict—including the isolationist United States, though not officially until 1917. The bloody war would last more than four years and result in upwards of 37 million dead, missing, or wounded soldiers.

Band of Brothers is a 2001 American war drama miniseries based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1992 non-fiction book of the same name. It was created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Which was mostly based on true events.

PLOT
Band of Brothers is a dramatized account of "Easy Company" (part of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment), assigned to the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Over ten episodes the series details the company's exploits during the war. Starting with jump training at Camp Toccoa, Georgia, Band of Brothers follows the unit through the American airborne landings in Normandy, Operation Market Garden, the Siege of Bastogne, and on to the war's end. It includes the taking of the Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest) at Obersalzberg in Berchtesgaden and refers to the surrender of Japan. Major Richard Winters (1918–2011) is the central character, shown working to accomplish the company's missions and keep his men together and safe. While the series features a large ensemble cast, each episode generally focuses on a single character, following his action.
As the series is based on historic events, the fates of the characters reflect those of the persons on which they are based. Many either die or sustain serious wounds which lead to their being sent home. Other soldiers recover after treatment in field hospitals and rejoin their units on the front line. Their experiences, and the moral, mental, and physical hurdles they must overcome, are central to the story's narrative.

Band of Brothers paid close attention to historical accuracy, but while celebrating the soldiers' achievements, the show failed to explore the long-term consequences of their war. In fact, every character in the show is entirely based on the real soldiers within the E company 2nd Battalion of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.

HBO's Band of Brothers remains one of the greatest mini-series ever made. By any measure of greatness, the acclaimed HBO mini-series, Band of Brothers, stands proud as one of the finest examples of its genre.
