#বহিপীর_নাটক
বহিপীর সৈয়দ ওয়ালীউল্লাহ এর একটি নাটক। জীবনের সঙ্গে সম্পর্কহীন বিদ্যা সমাজজীবনের জন্য কতটুকু গুরুত্ববহ তা প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ। আজও শিক্ষা-সৌন্দর্যহীন অজ্ঞ কুসংস্কারাচ্ছন্ন গ্রামীণ জীবন চলে আসছে জরাজীর্ণ পুঁথির জ্ঞানকে আঁকড়ে। জীবনের আনন্দ, জীবনের সৌন্দর্য সেখানে অনুপস্থিত। সমাজজীবনকেন্দ্রিক রূপকাশ্রিত এমন নানা ভাবধারা নিয়ে রচিত বহিপীর।

বহিপীরের রচয়িতা কথাশিল্পী ও নাট্যকার সৈয়দ ওয়ালীউল্লাহ। বাংলা ভাষার প্রতিথযশা এই কথাশিল্পী মাত্র কয়েকটি উপন্যাস, নাটক ও অল্প কিছু গল্প লিখলেও তার লেখার বিষয়, ভাষা ও জীবনঘনিষ্ঠতা তাকে সর্বকালের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ লেখকদের মধ্যে অন্যতম স্থানে আসীন করেছে। এটি ১৯৬০ সালে পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের (বর্তমান বাংলাদেশ) ঢাকা থেকে প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয়।

এর আগে ১৯৫৫ সালে ঢাকায় পিইএন ক্লাবের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলনে “বহিপীর” নাটক পুরস্কার লাভ করে। বহিপীর নাটকটি উনিশ শতকের শেষভাগ বা বিশ শতকের সূচনালগ্নের পটভূমিতে লেখা। নাটকে দেখা যায়, জমিদার হাশেম আলি সূর্যাস্ত আইনে জমিদারী হারাতে বসেছেন। সূর্যাস্ত আইন প্রণীত হয় ১৭৯৩ সালে আর এ আইনে জমিদারী হারাতে থাকে এ সময় পর্যন্ত।

সে সময়ে বাংলার প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে জেঁকে বসা পীরপ্রথা, অন্ধবিশ্বাস আর কুসংস্কার ফুটে উঠেছে এ নাটকে। পীরসাহেবকে ধনী গরিব সবাই অসম্ভব ভয় করে। গ্রামের সাধারণ মানুষ পীরকে পেলে হিতাহিত জ্ঞান হারিয়ে ফেলে। ধন সম্পদ এমনকি নিজের কন্যাকেও দান করে দেয়। এ নাটকটি শেষ পর্যন্ত আলোর পথ দেখায় ও এ অবস্থা থেকে বেরিয়ে আসার ইঙ্গিত দেয়।
বহিপীর নামটির একটি প্রতীকী তাৎপর্যও রয়েছে।

মূলত মুসলমান সমাজে পীরপ্রথার সৃষ্টি হয় কুসংস্কার ও ধর্মীয় বইয়ের পাতা থেকে। মূলত ইসলাম ধর্মের সুফিবাদী ব্যাখ্যার সূত্র ধরেই পীর সমাজের সৃষ্টি। সে হিসেবে ধর্মীয় ব্যাখ্যা ও মাসায়েল বইয়ের পাতা থেকে মানুষের সংস্কারকে পুঁজি করে ছড়িয়ে পড়া পীরপ্রথাকে তুলে ধরতে বহিপীর নামটি সার্থক।
