In today’s seminar, Dr. Md. Muktadir Billah discussed the pathways to academic research in Materials Science and shared his academic journey, research experiences, and achievements of the Billah Multifunctional Nanomaterials Group. He explained different advanced material systems such as semiconductor metal oxides, conducting polymers, MOFs, biopolymers, thin films, and metal matrix composites. The presenter also discussed the applications of these materials in photocatalysis, antibacterial activity, energy storage, electrocatalysis, water splitting, chemical sensing, and lightweight engineering applications. In addition, he highlighted important research concepts including structure–property relationships, doping effects, morphology control, and vacancy engineering, along with various characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy. Overall, the seminar emphasized innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the importance of active participation in academic research.
