You know the line. "CGPA দিয়ে কী হবে? Skill, network, mindset develop করো।"
It sounds true because one person on stage is proof of it. What the stage never shows you is the denominator: how many students followed the same advice, quietly slipped their CGPA below 3.0, and never made it past the first page of a job circular three years later. One visible success. Thousands of invisible rejections. That is not a rule you can build a career on. That is survivorship bias with a microphone.
Open any recent MTO circular in this country and read the eligibility line. Dutch-Bangla Bank asks for CGPA 3.00. AB Bank asks for 3.25. Standard Bank asks for 3.00, with no third class anywhere in your record. Most other private commercial bank management trainee programmes sit in the same 3.00 to 3.25 band. Government job circulars publish their own GPA thresholds openly, and Commonwealth Scholarship applications through UGC require a 2:1 equivalent before your nomination file even reaches London. Nobody on stage tells you this because the eligibility page is boring. The consequence is not.
And here is the asymmetry most students miss. The speaker's fee clears the same day, whether you get shortlisted or not. Your CGPA becomes their story only when you win. When you don't, neither they nor next month's audience ever hear about it. Their sample is self-selecting. Yours is not.
Skills, network, and mindset are decisive. They are decisive AFTER the eligibility line is cleared, not instead of it. Sequencing is a form of intelligence.
