Nocturnal mammals research and conservation in Bangladesh

17/02/2026

Not all maps are created equal. đŸŒŋ
Our latest research shows that the resolution of imagery used to map landscapes has real consequences for wildlife conservation — particularly in complex agroforestry mosaics like those found across West Java, Indonesia, home of the Critically Endangered Javan slow loris 🐒
High-resolution drone imagery revealed a dramatically different picture of habitat availability than satellite data alone — changing not just how we see the landscape, but how we protect it.

❤ī¸ Happy World Bonobo Day ❤ī¸

Did you know that bonobos are a member of the taxonomic family that includes chimpanzees, gorillas and us?

They were once considered to be “pygmy chimpanzees” but have long been recognized as a separate species endemic to Africa’s Congo Basin.

They are exemplified by long-term social cohesion, engaging facial expressions, and female centered societies.

Once considered to live in very remote communities, they are now listed as “endangered” by the IUCN, their survival threatened by commercial poaching, habitat loss and infectious disease.

Please help ASP’s efforts to fund primate research and care for them where they live. https://www.xcdsystem.com/asp/store/registration.cfm?ID=0kkRq7P&CartID=9E4B5574-0B5A-06B8-D81950A494508D25

For two of the world’s most at-risk primates, threats abound and the future looks grim Between Nigeria’s Cross River and Cameroon’s Sanaga River lies one of West Africa’s largest remaining blocks of intact rainforest. Noisy groups of Preuss’s red colobus monkeys (Piliocolobus preussi) move through this forest’s canopy in bands 20-to-60-strong, feeding mainly on the young lea...
