Proshikkha successfully distributed packages of food to 30 families in Shahid Minar, Cox's Bazaar on 11th of May. We are immensely grateful to those who made this possible. Thank you for all your valuable donation and support. The packages included:
Rice - 2 kg
Oil - 1 L
Salt - 1 kg
Sugar - 1 kg
Shemai - 1 packet

We hope our collective contribution and effort will make this Eid easier for them to cherish during these challenging times.

Proshikkha can bring smiles to the underprivileged located in Cox's Bazaar.
With the tourism sector at a standstill, the people of Cox's Bazaar have experienced drastic decrease in their flow of income. The seaside restaurants are no longer serving food, hotels are not receiving guests, local markets have lost customers. Many locals there who live hand to mouth have lost a lot of their source of income. In this time of continuing uncertainty, we can do our best to help those around us in our capacities.

Under the umbrella of 'Project Smile', we are organizing a fundraiser for Cox's Bazaar. A subset of volunteers will be operating from Cox's Bazaar, organizing work in the area. One small change to note is that rations of food will be provided. As we extend Project Smile, we extend our helping hand. Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated. With your help we can reach out to these people in need.

Our volunteers will carry it out in a manner that complies to health and safety guidelines to minimize risk of transmission as much as possible.
Due to certain limitations, namely obtaining permission for the distribution of aid, we would be able to carry out the project for 2/3 days.

'প্রশিক্ষা' কক্সবাজারের সুবিধাবঞ্চিত লোকদের মুখে হাসি ফোটাতে কাজ করছে। কক্সবাজার পর্যটন কেন্দ্র হওয়া সত্বেও গত এক বছরে এখানকার লোকজনের আয় ব্যাপক হ্রাস পেয়েছে। এখানকার উপকূলীয় রেস্টুরেন্টগুলোতে খাবার নেই, আবাসিক হোটেলগুলোয় পর্যটক নেই, স্থানীয় মার্কেটগুলোয় ক্রেতা নেই। অসংখ্য দিন এনে দিন খাওয়া লোকের আয়রোজগারের পথ নেই। এই এক দুর্বিষহ অনিশ্চিত সময়ে, আমরা আমাদের সাধ্যের সর্বোচ্চটুকু দিয়ে তাদের পাশে দাড়াতে পারি।
'প্রশিক্ষা' এর পক্ষ থেকে, 'প্রজেক্ট স্মাইল' এর আওতায়, আমরা একটি দাতব্য তহবিল গঠন করতে যাচ্ছি। উত্তোলিত তহবিলের টাকা দিয়ে দরিদ্র ও সুবিধাবঞ্চিত লোকদের আমরা রেশন পৌছে দিব। আমাদের কিছু কক্সবাজারের স্থানীয় স্বেচ্ছাসেবক এর দায়িত্ব থাকবে। আমাদের 'প্রজেক্ট স্মাইল' এর কার্যক্রম যত বাড়তে থাকবে, তত বেশি পরিমান লোকজনকে সাহায্য ও রেশনের আওতায় আনতে পারব। যেকোনো পরিমাণের আর্থিক সাহায্য গ্রহণীয়। আপনার এই সাহায্যটুকুই আমাদেরকে তাদের কাছে পৌঁছে দিবে।
আমাদের স্বেচ্ছাসেবকগণ সংক্রমণের ঝুঁকি এড়াতে সর্বোচ্চ শারীরিক ও স্বাস্থ্যগত সতর্কতার সাথে তাদের কাছে পৌঁছোবে।
তবে, কিছু সীমাবদ্ধতার কারণে, অনুমতি পাওয়া পূর্বক, আমরা ২/৩ দিনের জন্য প্রজেক্টটি চালাতে পারব।

Two in five people need immediate assistance in order to eat and drink - something many of us take for granted. Many may not have been affected by the virus, health-wise, instead they have faced dire financial crises due to the economic consequences of the virus. Not everyone has the luxury to sit comfortably and work from home. Life has become much harder than what was before. We can at least try to alleviate some of the financial burden and starvation. In order to reach more people ProShikhha will extend ‘Project Smile’ by organising a fundraiser.

Volunteers from our team will deliver cooked food to the people in need of urgent assistance in a manner that reduces risk of transmission as much as possible. With your help we will be able to ensure food for more people. All the money from the fundraiser will go to buying the food. Any amount of money donated is greatly appreciated. The gesture is more important than the size of a donation.

বর্তমানে এই দুর্যোগের পরিস্থিতির মাঝে শতকরা পাচজনের মধ্যে দুইজন মানুষেরই দৈনিক খাবার এবং পানীয়ের সংকট দেখা দিয়েছে। শারীরিকভাবে ভাইরাস দ্বারা আক্রান্ত না হলেও, এই ভাইরাসের ফলে সৃষ্ট অর্থনৈতিক সমস্যার মুখোমুখি হচ্ছেন হাজারো মানুষ। অনেকেরই ঘরে বসে আয় রোজগার করার সুযোগ নেই।আমরা অন্তত কিছুটা আর্থিক বোঝা ও অনাহার দূর করতে পারি। আরো বেশি মানুষকে সাহায্য করার লক্ষ্যে Project Smile- এর জন্য তহবিল সংগ্রহের উদ্যোগ নেয়া হয়েছে।

আমাদের স্বেচ্ছাসেবক দলের সদস্যরা মানুষের মধ্যে জরুরি খাবার ও পানীয় পৌছে দেবে। তারা যথেষ্ট সর্তকতা অবলম্বন করবে যাতে করোনা সংক্রমণের ঝুকি কম থাকে।

During this month of Ramadan we would like to start by bringing food to the underprivileged people under our first project called ‘Project Smile’. It has been especially hard for both the children and adults due to lockdown. The percentage of people living below the poverty line doubled during the pandemic. Many people live hand-to-mouth and it was very difficult to find jobs. This is our small way of giving back to the community.
Our foundation distributed iftar to 16 people yesterday as part of ‘Project Smile’ and we will be continuing it for the rest of Ramadan.

In our country, we often see street children being beaten for stealing things or working in some factories for minimum wage. Rapid urbanization across the country has led to the creation of urban slums where street children lead a very vulnerable life. Street children have no definite living or sleeping places, and many die young from neglect, malnutrition and disease.

ProShikkha is a youth led initiative that is working to increase STEM engagement among children who are otherwise deprived of many opportunities. With support and resources we hope to help learn through science projects of various kinds and develop their skills across the board. In the future they could be well on their way to STEM competitions and having a financial security net.
