Measles remains one of the most contagious human viral diseases, with a basic reproduction number (Rโ) ranging from 12 to 18. Although the disease is entirely preventable through vaccination, recent outbreaks in Bangladesh have underscored the persistent challenges posed by declining immunization coverage and disruptions to routine vaccination services. Beyond its characteristic clinical manifestations, measles can result in severe complications, including pneumonia, acute encephalitis, long-term neurological sequelae, and death, particularly among infants, malnourished children, and immunocompromised individuals.
