Dear All Parents,
The current population of Bangladesh is 164,210,832 as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020, based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data. Approximately 30% of the total population is below 15 years age, approx 50 million children are at home now since the schools and all kinds of educational institutions are now closed due to coronavirus spread out.
About 50 million students are affected by the educational disruptions in Bangladesh who are below 15 years of age. Parents are already starting to get anxious about how to deal with the upheaval. Schools would be closed for at least fourteen days and it could be more in case the situation is not stable.
Our S.A.M students are in 4-14 years age range. Most of our students already have the self learning attitudes. And few of them still need support from parents to complete the SAM worksheets. We are sharing a plan to fellow parents, because it may give you some ideas on your plan.

The Plan
A good plan is the best way to start any new challenge. When you begin planning for your children, you will need to think of three important aspects:
Continuity
Resources
Health and Well-being

Daddy / Mom’s School for a few weeks :

I’m drafting the ground rules. Here’s what I’ve got so far.

Dear kids,
1. “Daddy / Mom’s School hours” are 9:00 a.m. to noon each day. We’ll sit at the dining room table. Are pajamas okay? I’m undecided. Get some formality.

2. Each afternoon, after Daddy / Mom’s School ends for the day, you’re mostly on your own. Read. Play with your gerbils. Draw. Board games.

3. “Exercise” is 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day minimum, meaning you need to keep you fit during the days you are completely at home. It will improve your immune system. You can practice Taekwondo or Karate during the time.

4. Each afternoon you’ll get your usual 45 minutes of recreational screen time. Because Daddy/Mom’s School each morning includes a bunch of educational videos we watch together, I don’t want to permit even more screen time in the afternoons on top of that. Hope that seems fair.

5. Since you have required Independent practice with SAM worksheet, you’ll get that done. You’ll spend an hour per day on the required stuff. If required a video session with SAM trainers that will be fine to continue with the help of Daddy / Mom’s during the shutdown time.

6. If you have better ideas than mine, I’m all ears.

Draft Schedule
Wake up at the same time you normally would: helps continuity.

9:00 to 9:30 a.m.
Start with a regular lesson pick from your class textbook.

9:30 to 10:00 a.m.
Math tutoring. Maybe this will be just completing problem sets from school. Just make a revision of the school’s previous completed topics.

10:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Nonfiction book club. Let’s pick something and read/discuss it together, Finish 1 or 2 books during our Daddy/Mom’s School experience.

10:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Snack break.

10:45 to 11:15 a.m.
Watch and discuss Ted Talks. Here’s a list of seventeen of them that seem to be kid-friendly, for starters.
Or,
Oversimplified history videos. Tried and true. Let’s start each school day with a win. I’ll hit pause a lot and ask questions. Typical video is ten minutes without pauses. At the end, I’ll give you a fun five-minute speed round of quiz questions, help you remember what you saw.

11:15 to 12.00 a.m.
Work with SAM worksheet’s Learn session and guided practices. If Need make a chat with SAM trainer.

11:45 to 11:55 a.m.
“Test” for “treats.” I’ll make up a short test about today’s lessons. You’ll do the same, quizzing me. Whoever “wins”—kids or dad—gets a candy treat after lunch.

11:55 a.m. to noon
Kids rate the day of Daddy/Mom’s School on a scale from one to ten and provide feedback.

Summary
Remember to adjust your time frames to suit your child's needs. Children will most likely not need as much time to complete their work as they would have in the classroom, but highly distractible students may need a lot of supervision to help them stay on task.
