TOPIC: Poem: "The Sands of Dee" by Charles Kingsley
★★★★★
1st Stanza
“O Mary, go and call the cattle home,
And call the cattle home,
And call the cattle home,
Across the sands of Dee!”
The western wind was wild and dank with foam,
And all alone went she.
2nd Stanza
The western tide crept up along the sand,
And o'er and o'er the sand,
And round and round the sand,
As far as eye could see.
The bleak wind of the west blew her hair about her breast,
As she went down to the sea.
3rd Stanza
They cried, “The sea grows stormy, O Mary, come away!”
She said, “I hear the voices calling me
From over the sands of Dee.”
They cried, “Mary, do not go!”
But still she slowly went along the sand,
To meet her doom, sad and silently.
4th Stanza
But never home came she;
For the cruel, cruel sea
Came up and swept her away.
And the good sands of Dee
Never more were gay,
For Mary died that day.”
কিন্তু সে আর কখনো ঘরে ফিরল না;
