In game development, not every performance issue screams for attention.
Some quietly destroy your game from the inside
Memory leaks are one of them.
They donโt crash your game instantly.
They donโt throw obvious errors.
But over timeโฆ they kill FPS, increase load times, and frustrate players.
Common Causes of Memory Leaks in Unity:
Forgetting to unload unused assets (Resources.UnloadUnusedAssets) can slowly eat memory.
Objects held in static variables never get garbage collected.
Missing -= can keep objects alive forever.
Infinite coroutines = hidden memory consumption.
Pooling without limits can become a memory trap instead of optimization.
Gradual FPS drop during long sessions
โ Increased crash rates on low-end devices
โ Higher RAM usage โ Poor retention
โ Unexpected spikes during peak CCU
In multiplayer games, this can directly impact server cost & scalability
Use Unity Profiler regularly
โ
Track allocations in Deep Profiling mode
โ
Follow strict lifecycle management (OnEnable/OnDisable)
โ
Clean up events, delegates, and references
โ
Test long play sessions (not just short runs)
Memory leaks donโt break your game instantlyโฆ
They slowly make players leave.

Understanding the core of Unity development starts with mastering its lifecycle.
From Awake to Update and FixedUpdate, each method plays a critical role in how your game behaves and performs. Knowing when and how to use them can make a huge difference in writing optimized, scalable, and bug-free code.

๐ Optimizing your Unity game isnโt just about performance โ itโs about delivering a smooth, polished experience players actually enjoy.
Here are some essential optimization practices every Unity developer should focus on:
Use LODs to reduce unnecessary detail
Bake lighting instead of relying on real-time
Compress and optimize textures
Implement object pooling
Use occlusion culling effectively
Always profile before optimizing
Small improvements in the right places can lead to massive gains in performance ๐
Remember: Optimize smart, not just hard.

Yarn Loop! by Spyke Games already scaled past $200K ๐ค a day. This game put Yarns ๐งถ into the Pixel Flow's core. Will it be enough?
This is one of the bigger iterations in the latest craze of Pixel Flow's follow ups. The 2nd biggest game by Amobear Game Studio was already taken down from the stores โ ๏ธ, so now Yarn Loop is the 2nd biggest one.
It is already #4 in monthly revenue in the Sort sub-genre. Pixel Flow dominates with 22 Mil. in IAP only monthly revenue, which is much more considering their ad revenue and then you have Magic Sort by Grand Games with 8 Mil. and Sand Loop by Voodoo with 4,5 Mil.
This whole category really blew up ๐ฅ lately and it is pretty telling that 4 out of top 5 games are from Tรผrkiye ๐
where puzzle expertise and innovations reigns supreme.
If everything continues and Yarn Loop will scale ๐น more it will be the biggest game Spyke ever did after Tile Busters, which peaked in 2023 at about 5 Mil. per month in IAP revenue.
You can see on their other games how fast they are making them now, even reusing the Cube monsters IP together with their metagame template. They already soft launched this game 2 months after Pixel Flow launched.
What Is UV Mapping in 3D Models?
UV Mapping is the process of applying a 2D texture to a 3D model. It defines how an image wraps around a 3D surface.
๐น What Does โUVโ Mean?
U and V are coordinates on a 2D texture. They work like X and Y,
but for texture space instead of 3D space.
Why UV Mapping Is Important
Without proper UV mapping:
โข Textures appear stretched
โข Details look misplaced
โข Models look incorrect
With proper UVs:
โ Clean texture placement
โ Accurate details
โ Better visual quality
How It Works
A 3D model is โunwrappedโ into a flat 2D layout. This layout is called a UV map. A texture is then applied to this layout so it fits correctly on the model.
Iโm excited to announce something new!
