An awareness campaign under the project "Supporting coastal communities in coping with continuous sea-level rise and managing flood and soil erosion with the application of polymer fiber composite strips (PFCS) in coastal embankments." funded by CFLI was arranged in Banshkhali, Chattogram, On October 22, 2022. The campaign's purpose was to raise awareness of unplanned plastic dumping and its current and future impact on floods in Bangladesh. Team leader Dr. Minhaz Mohammad Shahriar met with flood-affected communities and discussed floods in Bangladesh and the adverse effects of plastic on the environment and flood conditions. Flood-affected people also shared their experiences with floods and cyclones and the significance of sustainable embankments in their livelihoods.
