🏫About Tohoku:
Tohoku University is the third oldest Imperial university in Japan and is considered one of the most prestigious in the country. It was originally founded as a medical school in 1736. It is located in Sendai, the second largest city north of Tokyo. Tohoku was selected as a Top Type university of Top Global University Project by the Japanese government. In 2021 and 2022, the Times Higher Education Tohoku University was ranked No. 1 university in Japan.

About Utokyo

Screenig Process:

Document Review:
Applications are initially screened based ontheir application documents. Strong academic and standard test results along with extensive relevant extracurricular achievements give applicants an edge. Personal essays and letters of evaluations are critical as well.

Interview:
Applicants are notified about whether they will be called for the second screening in late January 2023.
Those who passed the first screening must promptly reply to
confirm their attendance at the interview. All interviews are conducted online.
During the interview, applicants may also be asked to provide written answers to questions provided by the interviewers.
ES applicants who pass the first screening process will be required to take an onlinemathematics examination before the interview.

Scholarships:
Merit-based scholarships are available. In principle, all scholarships are offered when successful applicants are notified of their admission to the university, no prior separate application is required. The selection of scholarship recipients is based on the screening process.

(1) The University of Tokyo Scholarship
This scholarship is offered to students of exceptional merit. It is a four-year scholarship that covers the admission fee, tuition, and living expenses (JPY126,000 a month).
Up to ten students may be offered this scholarship.

(2) Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship:
Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship is a four-year scholarship that covers the admission fee, tuition, round-trip economy-class airline ticket between home country and Japan, and living expenses (JPY120,000 a month). Up to five successful applicants may be offered the scholarship.

3. Other Scholarships:

Applicants will be considered on the basis of their education background, academic and non-academic achievements. If they are invited to attend an interview, their performance at the interview will also be taken into consideration.

💳𝘾𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙨:
The tuition fee for non-local students for 2023-24 is HK$145,000 per annum (subject to confirmation). The tuition fees for dual undergraduate degree programmes may vary. A caution fee of HK$450 must be paid upon enrolment. This is refundable on withdrawal from the University, but is usually used as graduation fee.

The hostel fee for 2021-22 was approximately HK$14,000, depending upon the type of hostel. The fees for 2022-23 are yet to be confirmed.
The above fees plus food, books, transportation, and pocket money should come to an approximate total of HK$200,000 (US$25,000) per year.
