Mr. Nazmul Hasan Bappi graduated from the department of English in 2019 and completed his MA in TESOL in 2022 at East West University. He worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant during his masters. He is now a fully funded PhD student in Educational Psychology at the University of Oklahoma. He also works as a Graduate Research Assistant at the university.

The Department of English at East West University is delighted to announce the upcoming BELTA–EWU International Conference 2026, jointly organized in collaboration with Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA).

Centered on the timely theme, “English Language Education in a Fractured World: Posthumanist Perspectives and Practices,” the conference aims to bring together scholars, educators, researchers, and practitioners from around the globe to engage in meaningful academic dialogue and innovative pedagogical explorations.
We warmly invite academics, researchers, teachers, and students to submit proposals and participate in this significant international gathering to be held on 20–21 November 2026 at East West University.

Department of English, EWU Commemorates the Late Mr. Shafiqur Rahman in a Special Memorial Program:

A memorial program was held in honor of the late Mr. Shafiqur Rahman, Assistant Professor and former Chairperson, Department of English, East West University, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. The event took place from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Razia Samad Lecture Gallery, Room 242, at East West University. The program was hosted by Dr. Afia Arafat, Assistant Professor, Department of English. East West University.
The program began with a one-minute silence to pay tribute to the departed soul. Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU, Professor Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor, EWU, Professor Dr. Fakrul Alam, Advisor, Department of English, EWU and family members of Mr. Shafiqur Rahman shared heartfelt reflections on Mr. Rahman’s dedication, leadership, and inspiring mentorship. Faculty members, students, and administrative staff gathered to express their deep sorrow and respect. His colleagues: Professor Dr. Muhammed Shahriar Haque and Zohur Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Department of English highlighted his commitment to academic excellence, while one of his former students, Md. Mahmudul Hasan, fondly remembered his guidance and compassion. Associate Professor Dr. Akhter Jahan, Chairperson, Department of English brought the program to a close with her sincere speech.
The memorial ended with expressions of gratitude for his service and lasting impact. The event served as a meaningful tribute to a respected teacher, mentor, and leader whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
