Global data shows that almost twice as many newborn deaths occur among pregnant women below 20, compared to those who are older. In Bangladesh, the number of dead newborns whose mothers were below age 20 is 31 per 1,000 live births. 2 common factors behind the poor nutritional status of adolescent girls are poor diets and early childbearing. Nearly 1 in 3 adolescent girls are thin, including 11 per cent of girls who are moderately or severely thin. Most lacking micronutrients are iodine, zinc, and iron. Bangladesh has an extremely high adolescent birth rate; 113 out of every 1,000 women ages 15-19 years old have given birth.
This Social and behavioural change communication (SBCC) material was designed as the requirement of the final assignment for the course PBH663. 3 different materials were developed under the campaign called “School-based adolescent girl nutrition promotion program” which were a Poster, a talk show, and a page. The objectives of the Campaign were to promote the intake of adequate nutritional food among adolescent girls, to create awareness to provide a balanced diet to the adolescent girls in the family, promotion of healthy behavioural choices in terms of nutrition, and gender equality in the family.
