পদ্মায় উড়বো পাখির মতোন ;

Book Review: ‘The Miracle Morning’
Author: Hal Elrod
Year Published: 2012

The central idea the book ‘The Miracle Morning’ puts forward is that creating a daily personal development routine can turn one into the person one needs to be to solve all his problems. We have the power to develop into the person we need to be, to achieve everything we have ever wanted in our life. This process begins with how we start our days in the morning before 8 am.

THE NOT-SO-OBVIOUS SECRETS AUTHOR HAL GUARANTEED IN THIS BOOK TO TRANSFORM OUR LIFE BEFORE 8 AM INCLUDE:
THE 95% REALITY CHECK
THE LIFE S.A.V.E.R.S.
THE 5-STEP SNOOZE PROOF WAKE UP STRATEGY
THE 6-MINUTE MIRACLE MORNING
FROM UNBEATABLE TO UNSTOPPABLE

It may not be the most well-written book; being very repetitive at times. But the principles it teaches are immensely worth reading about.

“It’s been said that the first hour is the rudder of the day. If I’m lazy or haphazard in my actions during the first hour after I wake up, I tend to have a fairly lazy and unfocused day. But if I strive to make that first hour optimally productive, the rest of the day tends to follow suit.”
-Steve Pavlina

As per the lifelong belief of not being morning people, we sleep away most of the mornings. Which would lead us to stay up all night doing things, leaving them unfinished, and wake up tired the next day. Miraculously enough, this book has the potential to transform the mornings into “Miracle Mornings” and increase our productivity to a much greater extent than before.

“Every day you and I wake up, we face the same universal challenge: to overcome mediocrity and live to our full potential.”
-Hal Elrod

At the point in one’s life when he is just about to accept the mediocrity in life, consistently accepting far less than his best, this book may come to him as a blessing. It makes us realise that to defeat the cause of mediocrity; we need a life purpose.

In this book, Hal Elrod shows us these factors to a successful life and how to design our morning to boost our life energy. It motivates us to change our life by “creating our best life- our level 10 life- and taking our levels of success, happiness, health, and financial prosperity beyond what we have ever experienced”. Coming with a lot of valuable lessons, ideas, and strategies, this book is worth to be read several times. There would hardly be anyone who would not benefit from reading this book. A great read for the ones who want to gift themselves the gift of waking up each day with their full potential.

Shutter Island (2010)
Director: Martin Scorsese
Genre: Psychological thriller

"This place makes me wonder, which would be worse – to live as a monster, or to die as a good man?"

Set in 1954, Federal Marshals Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule are assigned to investigate the disappearance of inmate Rachel Solando from the Ashecliff Mental Asylum for the Criminally Insane located on Shutter Island. But before they even step off the ferry, we know all is not well with Teddy. Suffering from seasickness and dark memories of his dead wife Dolores, it is clear that while Teddy may be our protagonist, he's damaged and we can't entirely trust him. An intense, compelling performance from DiCaprio pulls us in different directions as it's difficult to discern if his urgency is a result of his own trauma or the sinister vibe from the guards, nurses, orderlies, and chief psychiatrist Dr. Cawley.
At first glance, Shutter Island may seem like a twisting narrative that refuses to play fair with the audience, but it does the complete opposite. We are left guessing not because Scorsese's refusing to show us key elements, but because we are following an unreliable protagonist and seeing everything as he does.
Traversing the island, we see a twisted landscape of falling trees, jagged cliffs, hidden caves, an old civil war fort that houses the most dangerous inmates, and a lighthouse where lobotomies and surgical experiments may be occurring. There are no easy answers on Shutter Island but there are not any tricks either.
Known as a master of using music to elevate his movies, Scorsese pulls off one of his most difficult and impressive aural accomplishments to date. The eclectic soundtrack features music by Brian Eno, Johnnie Ray, Max Richter, and more. The film opens with the bold, oppressive "Fog Tropes," and without Scorsese's complete confidence and command of every other element of his film, this tune along with many others would feel corny and overbearing.
Shutter Island exists on the edge of a knife and rather than fall into genre conventions or into endless homage, Martin Scorsese carves his movie into something singular and unforgettable. Every element had to work to make this film a success. Any flawed element, from weak supporting performance, to a cheap narrative trick, to an indecisive music cue, and we had lost the illusion. Instead, Scorsese transports the audience to a world that is both captivating and claustrophobic. It is a psychological horror where viewers are scared by what is presented yet terrified at what lies in the periphery.

"26th March 1971"; A common day for other nation's people but a night changing epoch for us. Countless bodies, innumerable liters of blood, and numerous mothers with no hope in life. The people had done nothing wrong but yet they suffered. Yes, I'm talking about 25th March's attack at midnight (26th March) on us by the West Pakistan armies. But our people had enough of it and were ready to depart their life for their mother nation. The mighty war began which made the nation free from the clutches of West Pakistani beasts after the revolutionary message from the father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-

“This may be my last message, from today Bangladesh is independent. I call upon the people of Bangladesh wherever you might be and with whatever you have, to resist the army of occupation to the last.”

And after blood-shedding combat of nine months, the country became independent. We pay homage to the martyrs who fought dauntlessly for the freedom of the country. Let’s honour all the patriots and well-wishers who love the country and work hard for its progress.

Happy Independence Day 🇧🇩
