Stamford University Hosts Prof. Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed Memorial Case Study Competition

The competition was organized in memory of ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฎ๐น ๐จ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ, a distinguished member of the Business Faculty of the University of Dhaka and one of the founding figures and also served as Dean of the university's Business Administration Department of Stamford University Bangladesh.
The competition began on ๐๐๐ด๐๐๐ ๐ญ, with 15 teams participating in the preliminary round. Following an assessment conducted through Google Classroom, five teams qualified for the Grand Finale.
The final round featured a unique case-solving format. The cases were distributed among the finalist teams through a lottery. Each team was given ๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ฌ ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐ to analyze its assigned case and develop a strategic solution. The teams then presented their analyses before the audience and a four-member judging panel.
The event was inaugurated with addresses from the conveners of the two forums, along with ๐ ๐ผ๐ต๐ฎ๐บ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐บ๐๐น ๐๐๐พ, ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฝ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ, and ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ, ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ผ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ๐.
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ป๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐๐บ also shared her experience and words of encouragement with the participants during the program.
Before the judging process began, ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ. ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ต๐ป๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ผ๐, ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ง๐ฟ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐, attended the event and spoke about the importance of case-based learning. She emphasized the value of practicing case studies within academic settings to help students prepare for real-world challenges.
The judging panel included two external industry professionals and two internal academic judges. The external judges were ๐ง๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฑ๐ถ๐ธ ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ฏ, ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฆ๐๐ธ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐ด๐ฟ๐ผ ๐๐๐ฑ., and ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐น, ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฏ๐๐น ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฝ. ๐ต๐ถ๐ฏ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป featuring the work of all 15 teams from the preliminary round was another major attraction of the event. ๐ฉ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ-๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ. ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ก๐ฎ๐ณ๐ฒ ๐๐-๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ led the exhibition visit, accompanied by ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ. ๐ ๐ผ๐ต๐ฎ๐บ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐น ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ป, ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ด๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐ฏ๐ฑ๐๐น ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป, ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐น๐๐ ๐บ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, ๐ท๐๐ฑ๐ด๐ฒ๐, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ผ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ด๐๐ฒ๐๐๐. The Vice-Chancellor interacted with the participants, asked questions about their projects, and exchanged views with them.
In his remarks, Professor Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber said that the initiative was only the beginning and emphasized the need to expand such competitions beyond the intra-university level. He expressed his vision of organizing an ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ-๐๐ป๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐น๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ต in the future.
Following the assessment, ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ ๐๐๐๐๐ฅ emerged as the champion. The team comprised ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป, ๐ ๐ฒ๐ต๐ป๐ฎ๐ ๐ ๐ถ๐น๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐ณ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ธ๐ต๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฆ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ถ๐๐ฎ and worked on the case โSumit Group and Bangladesh's Capacity Payment Debate.โ The champion team received ๐ง๐ธ. ๐ฑ,๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐บ๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ฟ.

๐ง๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐น๐๐๐, comprising ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ถ๐ฏ ๐๐ต๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ, ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ๐ฎ ๐๐ต๐ผ๐๐ต ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ก๐ฎ๐ณ๐ถ๐บ ๐๐๐น๐ฎ๐บ ๐ฆ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ป, became the ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฟ๐๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ-๐๐ฝ with their case โBeximco Group's Debt Crisis and Corporate Restructuring.โ The team received ๐ง๐ธ. ๐ฎ,๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ฟ.
All other participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their participation in the competition.

Organizers from both SBF and SUEF also shared their reflections on the competition. The event concluded with a cultural program performed by students from the Business Administration and Economics departments.
The competition provided students with an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to practical business challenges while strengthening their analytical, presentation, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
