~~ পাবলিক-প্রাইভেট দ্বন্দ্ব —
গবেষণার জন্য পৃথিবীর শ্রেষ্ঠ দেশটির নাম আমেরিকা। তাই দেশটিতে অন্যান্য অনেক সমস্যা থাকা সত্ত্বেও, সারা দুনিয়ার মেধাবীরা জড়ো হয়।
আমেরিকার সেরা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোর মধ্যে এমআইটি, হার্ভাড, প্রিন্সিটন, ইউপ্যান, স্ট্যানফোর্ড, ক্যালট্যাক, কলোম্বিয়া, ইয়েল এগুলো উল্লেখযোগ্য। সারা দুনিয়াতেই এসব প্রতিষ্ঠান সেরা। অথচ এগুলো সবই প্রাইভেট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়।
তবে এসব প্রতিষ্ঠান শুধু মুনাফা ভিত্তিক বাণিজ্যিক প্রতিষ্ঠান নয়। শ্রেষ্ঠত্বের লড়াইয়ে টিকে থাকার জন্য এসব প্রতিষ্ঠানের শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থীদের কী পরিমাণ পরিশ্রম করতে হয়, সেটা বাংলাদেশে বসে কল্পনা করাও কঠিন।
একটা শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের অবকাঠামো দেখভালের দায়িত্ব রাষ্ট্রের। স্ব-স্ব প্রতিষ্ঠানের প্রশাসনের। শিক্ষার্থীদের নয়।
সুতরাং সমাজে এই যে ‘পাবলিক-প্রাইভেট’ একটি মনোঃস্তাত্ত্বিক দ্বন্দ্ব, সেটা অনর্থক। আনপ্রোডাক্টিভ।
জ্ঞান কখনো পাবলিক-প্রাইভেট আবর্তে সীমাবদ্ধ থাকে না। ভেঙ্গে ফেলুন এই ট্যাবু! এই ট্যাগ!
পাবলিক বা প্রাইভেটে পড়া সমস্যা নয়। সমস্যাটা হলো শিক্ষার সুষমতা। প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোতে শিক্ষা ও গবেষণার মানের সাম্যতার অভাব।
উন্নত দেশের শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোতে মানের একটা মাপকাঠি থাকে। প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর পাঠদান প্রক্রিয়া, সিলেবাস, শিক্ষকদের মান আকাশ-পাতাল পার্থক্য নয়। আমরা সেই সমতাটাই আনতে পারিনি। দেশে যেমন খারাপ প্রাইভেট বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় আছে, তেমনি খারাপ পাবলিক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ও আছে। এদের খারাপের জন্য রাষ্ট্র দায়ী। ইউজিসি দায়ী। আর দায়ী হলো সেসব প্রতিষ্ঠানের প্রশাসন।
যে দেশের শিক্ষাটাই মূলত সনদনির্ভর, সে দেশে এই পাবলিক-প্রাইভেট দ্বন্দ্বটা সম্ভবত সবচেয়ে কুরুচিপূর্ণ।
শিক্ষার আসল উদ্দেশ্য হলো উদার মানুষ তৈরি করা। জ্ঞানী মানুষ তৈরি করা। দক্ষ মানুষ তৈরি করা। মানুষের যোগ্যতাকে প্রাধান্য দেয়া। পাবলিক-প্রাইভেট দ্বন্দ্ব তৈরি করা না।
সুতরাং রাষ্ট্র কিংবা প্রতিষ্ঠান কোন নিয়ম-নীতির মধ্য দিয়ে এই দ্বন্দ্বকে আরো জাগিয়ে তুলতে পারে না। এটা রেইসিজম! লাউড এন্ড ক্লিয়ার!

It was Albert Einstein's birthday, and his friends decided to throw him a surprise party. As Einstein walked into the room, everyone yelled, "Happy Birthday!" But Einstein, being Einstein, replied, "Actually, time is relative, so technically every day is my birthday!"
