Thesis done and dusted! 🎓✨

Can’t believe this journey has finally come to an end. Our thesis titled “Heritage Defect Detection under Data Scarcity: YOLO Faster R-CNN Ensemble with Weighted Boxes Fusion” focused on using AI and deep learning to detect defects in heritage artifacts even when available data is extremely limited.

We initially planned to collect data from the National Museum and Rayerbazar but due to access restrictions, we couldn’t continue with physical data collection. Instead, we curated our dataset from online sources, primarily heritage images of Panam City and developed our model based on that.

To the best of our knowledge, this type of research work has been done for the first time in Bangladesh which makes it even more special for us. 🇧🇩✨

It was definitely not an easy ride, from dataset preparation to model tuning and debugging, but every challenge helped us grow. Through this work, we aimed to contribute to AI-driven cultural heritage preservation in Bangladesh.

Grateful for my amazing teammates, our supervisor and everyone who supported us throughout this journey. 💛
