🌈 Color Fading & Bleeding
☀️1. Color Fading
Color fading happens when a fabric slowly loses its original shade after being exposed to things like washing, sunlight ☀️, or rubbing. The cloth starts to look dull or lighter because the dye becomes weak or partly removed. To measure this fading, the tested fabric is compared with a grey scale for color change, which shows how much the shade has shifted.
2. Color Bleeding
Color bleeding occurs when dye from a colored fabric runs off and stains another fabric that touches it, usually during washing 💧. The second fabric gets unwanted stains, while the original fabric may lose some of its brightness. To check this, an undyed (adjacent) fabric is placed next to the colored sample. After the test, the stained fabric is compared with a grey scale for staining to see how much color has bled out
