The EAGE, AAPG & SPE Dhaka University Student Chapter arranged a collaborative geological fieldwork across Jaflong, Tamabil & Jaintiapur, Sylhet from 21st to 24th of December under the surveillance of honorable Dr. Anwar Hossain Bhuiyan & Sajjadul Islam Fahim.
Day: 1
We looked at the Sylhet limestone and Kopili shale exposure which reflected changes in depositional circumstances and diagenesis through limestone's distinct vertical progression from micritic limestone at the base to fossiliferous limestone to higher crystalline limestone.
Day:2
We studied the Bhuban Formation at Tetul Ghat, Lalakhal. It is a sandstone-dominated sequence interbedded with shale that reflects a shallow marine to deltaic depositional environment during a marine transgression phase. We collected sample from that station for lab experiments. Lastly completed our Surma Group observations on our way back to zero point by seeing the Bokabil Formation, which is famous for its heterolithic bedding with alternating sand and shale, indicating deltaic energy variations. We also briefly viewed the Dupitila Formation.
The field provided the students with an excellent chance to acquire practical knowledge and lifetime experience.

On this Victory Day, we solemnly commemorate our freedom fighters who endured immense oppression & undergo bloodshed for nine long months which gave birth to sovereign Bangladesh where we all now cherish our freedom. We would be forever indebted for the sacrifices and courage exhibited by them. Our history is our pride, our identity.
Happy Victory Day to all 🇧🇩🎉

EAGE Dhaka University Student Chapter is proud to share the outstanding contributions of our former Vice President, Rakibul Hasan Badhon, to the Department of Geology, University of Dhaka.
After previously arranging to bring PaleoScan software to the department and successfully completing his thesis research using this advanced seismic interpretation platform, he has now taken another remarkable step forward.
Rakibul Hasan Badhon has facilitated the introduction of the world-class reservoir modelling and simulation software tNavigator to the department.
The department now holds a 6-PC academic license valued at USD 2,772,000 per year, greatly enhancing our capacity for reservoir modelling, dynamic simulation, and integrated geoscience workflows.
This milestone significantly strengthens our department’s research capabilities and exposure to cutting-edge industry-standard tools. We extend our sincere appreciation to him for his initiative and dedication to advancing geoscience education and research at the University of Dhaka.
