Traffic Jam
Now-a-days traffic jam has become a serious problem in our urban life. Traffic jam means crowded mass of
people, vehicles etc that makes movement difficult or impossible. We are familiar with it because everyday
we are victimized by this problem. There are some reasons for this bothersome problem. Day by day the cities
are becoming over-populated. The number of vehicles is also increasing vying with rapid growth of
population. The loading or unloading of goods from trucks during day time, illegal markets by the roadside
unwise parking of vehicles, public meetings and processions are responsible for traffic jam. During religious
festivals, i.e. Eid, Durga Puja traffic jam occurs near super markets, bus terminals and launch ghats, but
according to the specialists the major reason is the lack of knowledge about traffic rules. The rickshaw pullers
do not follow the traffic rules. Instead of following a queue, they overtake and create traffic jam. It causes a
great loss of our valuable time and energy. Sometimes it becomes a matter of great sorrow when a patient dies
for not reaching hospital or as student can’t appear in his examination because of traffic jam. Following traffic
rules, introducing one way road, removing unlicensed vehicles etc. can solve this problem. Our govt. should
take steps to solve this problem immediately so that we can reach our destination safely and comfortably.
