Quantifier কি? (সংক্ষিপ্ত আলোচনা)
Quantifier হচ্ছে কোনো determiner বা কোনো শব্দ বা শব্দগুচ্ছ যা সাধারণত কোনো noun এর পূর্বে ব্যবহৃত হয়ে তার পরিমাণ (amount/quantity) নির্দেশ করে।
(OALD তে quantifier is a determiner or a pronoun)

Quantifier এর ব্যবহার

১. কিছু quantifier ব্যবহৃত হয় plural countable noun এবং uncountable noun উভয়ের সাথে। সেগুলো হচ্ছে
All, any, a lot of, lots of, plenty of, enough, more, most, some
He lost all his money.
I don't have any money on/with me.
All men are mortal. All animals eat to live.
There were/are (a lot of /lots of) people there.
I earn (a lot of/lots of) money.
I like most fruit/vegetables.
I spent most time on the first question.
Most people think he is innocent.
Hilari got most votes in the last President election.
২. কিছু quantifier শুধু plural count noun এর সাথে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Both, Many, A few, Few, Several
Both (the) boys are hard working.
Both (my) sisters live in Dhaka.
I have got a few friends, so I am not lonely.
I have talked to him on the phone a few times.
[a few times = several times = কয়েক বার
এখানে some times ভুল। কারণ, কিছু বার কথাটি এক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয় না। ]

৩. কিছু quantifier শুধু uncount noun এর সাথে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
(A) little, Much, A good/great deal of
There is (a) little hope of his recovery.
I spent a good/great deal of money on travelling last year.
Fetch me a duster. There's a good deal of dust on these books.
