How to Practice Vipassana Insight Meditation
BY SAYADAW U PANDITA| MAY 18, 2017
:). ... How to Practice Vipassana Insight Meditation !
Step-by-step instructions on how to do this important practice -— the foundation of all Buddhist meditations — from the late Vipassana master Sayadaw U Pandita.
What is Vipassana?
Vipassana, or insight meditation, is the practice of continued close attention to sensation, through which one ultimately sees the true nature of existence. It is believed to be the form of meditation practice taught by the Buddha himself, and although the specific form of the practice may vary, it is the basis of all traditions of Buddhist meditation.
Vipassana is the predominant Buddhist meditation practice in Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. At the beginning of the twentieth century, there was an important revival of this early form of meditation practice led by the Venerable Mahasi Sayadaw of Burma. Following his death in 1982, Sayadaw U Pandita, who studied extensively with Mahasi Sayadaw, was chosen as his principle preceptor. U Pandita was one of the world’s leading teachers of Vipassana meditation and was been an important influence on many Vipassana teachers in the West, including Sharon Salzberg and Joseph Goldstein of the Insight Meditation Society. He was the founder and abbot of Panditarama Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar.

An Interview with Most Venerable Mahasi Sayadaw
Question 1. venerable Mahasi Sayadaw, did you have full in Satipatthana Vipassana Practice when you start it?
Answer- No, freckly didn,t i did not initially have full faith in it. So don,t blame anybody for not having faith in practice before they start it. It is only because they have little or no experience of it. In 1937, when I was in only Eight Monkhood (Vassa), much to my curiosity and confusion, a meditation master called Mingon Zetawin Sayadaw was teaching: note going when going; note standing when standing; note sitting when sitting; note lying when lying; note bending when bending; note stretching when stretching; note eating when eating. I got confused by the fact that there was no object to observe in ultimate sense, such as mind and body, and their impermanence, suffering and egolesssness. But I it some consideration and thought. How strange the way Sayadaw teaches, I,m sure "he is highly learned, and is teaching from his own experience. It may be too early for me to decide whether it is good or bad before I my self practice it." Thus, I started to practice with him. see how does Mind Developing from very Beginning of Vipassana Insight Meditation

"Short Notes Benefit of Samatha and Vipassana"
Bhavana can be defined as the process of developing or becoming- teaching the mind, speech and body to cultivate sila (morality), samadhi (concentration), and panna (wisdom),developing the mind of ordinary persons to become noble disciples of Buddhism. At a Higher level, Bhavana is training one,s mind to becoming Bodhisattva (a candidate for becoming a Buddha), while moving towards full enlightenment, as Lord Buddha did. with bhavana practice, the mediator becomes one with dhamma-vinaya (dhamma and disciplines) encompassing all 84,000 dhamma-khanda ( a unit of the doctrine).
