Carbon is a remarkable element that exists in several different forms called allotropes, including 𝒅𝙞𝒂𝙢𝒐𝙣𝒅, 𝙜𝒓𝙖𝒑𝙝𝒊𝙩𝒆, 𝙖𝒏𝙙 𝙜𝒓𝙖𝒑𝙝𝒆𝙣𝒆.

Despite being made of the same element, these forms have vastly different properties.

Diamond is the hardest natural material known, while graphite is soft and slippery, and graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms with exceptional strength and electrical conductivity.
