CUET PME 3rd Year Students Visit Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) and Titas Gas Field, Brahmanbaria.

On November 6, 2025, the 3rd-year students of the Petroleum and Mining Engineering (PME) Department, Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET), visited Bangladesh Gas Fields Company (BGFCL) and Titas Gas Field, Brahmanbaria as part of their industrial tour program.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore various operational units of the gas field and gain practical knowledge about gas production, processing, and field management. The experience helped bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world petroleum field operations.
The industrial tour was organized under the guidance of Professor Dr. Abu Shadat Muhammad Sayem, Head of the PME Department, and accompanied by Course Teachers Md. Zahidul Islam & Md. Rasel Rana, who ensured the smooth arrangement of the visit and valuable on-site learning.
This educational visit greatly enhanced students’ understanding of the gas industry and strengthened the collaboration between academic and the energy sector of Bangladesh.

Thanks to Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, CUET and BGFCL authority for arranging this comprehensive and engaging tour.

The CUET SPE Student Chapter # 6268 successfully hosted an Orientation and SPE Account Opening Session for the PME 24 Batch on October 22, 2025, at the PME Seminar Room, CUET.

The event was honored by the presence of our respected Head of Department, Professor Dr. Abu Shadat Muhammad Sayem, who delivered an inspiring speech that motivated the newcomers and assured the department’s continuous support for their academic and professional growth.Several faculty members also attended the session and shared valuable insights to guide the students in their journey ahead.
Later, the SPE committee members introduced the new students to the benefits of SPE membership and conducted a live demonstration on how to open an SPE account. The session ended on a cheerful note, as the committee warmly welcomed the freshers and presented them with small tokens of appreciation.

We are presenting this event in collaboration with SPE student chapters of DU, CUET, MIST, SUST, BUET, and JUST, along with the SPE Bangladesh Section.

বাংলাদেশের প্রকৌশল খাতে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ন্যায্য অধিকার বঞ্চনা, সুযোগ-সুবিধার বৈষম্য ও নীতি বৈপরীত্য প্রকৌশলীদের পেশাগত উন্নয়নকে বাধাগ্রস্ত করছে। এ অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে সংগঠিত হয়েছে ‘প্রকৌশল অধিকার আন্দোলন’, যার লক্ষ্য হলো যোগ্যতার ভিত্তিতে নিয়োগ নিশ্চিত করা, প্রকৌশলীদের মর্যাদা পুনঃপ্রতিষ্ঠা করা এবং কর্মক্ষেত্রে স্বচ্ছ ও জবাবদিহিমূলক পরিবেশ গড়ে তোলা। এরই প্রেক্ষিতে সমগ্র দেশের প্রকৌশল শিক্ষার্থী গণ ৩ টি দাবি উত্থাপন করেছে।

দফা ১: ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ৯ম গ্রেড বা সহকারী প্রকৌশলী বা সমমান পদে প্রবেশের জন্য সবাইকে নিয়োগ পরীক্ষা দিতে উত্তীর্ণ হতে হবে এবং ন্যূনতম বিএসসি ডিগ্রিধারী হতে হবে।

দফা ২: টেকনিক্যাল ১০ম গ্রেড বা উপ-সহকারী প্রকৌশলী বা সমমান পদের নিয়োগ পরীক্ষা ডিপ্লোমা ও বিএসসি ডিগ্রিধারী উভয়ের জন্য উন্মুক্ত করতে হবে।

দফা ৩: ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিংয়ে বিএসসি ডিগ্রি ব্যতীত প্রকৌশলী পদবি ব্যবহারকারীদের বিষয়ে যথাযথ আইনি পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করতে হবে। নন এক্রিডেট বিএসসি ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কোর্সগুলোকে যথাযথ প্রক্রিয়া অনুসরণ করে IEB-BAETE এক্রিডিটেশনের আওতায় আনতে হবে।

CUET SPE Student Chapter এ সকল দাবির সাথে একাত্মতা প্রকাশ করছে এবং সকল দাবির প্রতি পুর্ণ সমর্থন জানাচ্ছে।

আরো লক্ষণীয়, গত ২৫-০৮-২০২৪ তারিখে NESCO তে কর্মরত BUET-EEE ১৭ ব্যাচের রোকন ভাই কে কতিপয় উগ্রপন্থী ডিপ্লোমা দ্বারা হত্যার হুমকি দেওয়া হয়। আমরা এর তীব্র নিন্দা জানাচ্ছি এবং দোষীদের অতিসত্বর আইনের আওতাইয় আনার দাবি জানাচ্ছি।

দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ধৈর্যের সাথে অপেক্ষা করার পরও নীতিনির্ধারক কর্তৃপক্ষের পক্ষ থেকে কোনো কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা হয়নি। বরং আমাদের ভাইকে হত্যার হুমকি দেওয়া হয়েছে, যা অত্যন্ত নিন্দনীয় ও উদ্বেগজনক। এর প্রতিবাদস্বরূপ আগামী ২৭ আগস্ট ২০২৫ তারিখে ঢাকা অভিমুখে ঘোষিত লং মার্চ-এ অংশগ্রহণ করার জন্য আমরা সবাইকে আন্তরিকভাবে অনুরোধ করছি এবং সার্বিক সফলতা কামনা করছি।
