বিতর্ক হচ্ছে যুক্তির খেলা। এর ফলে শিক্ষার্থীরা প্রতিপক্ষকে যুক্তি দিয়ে ঘায়েল করার কৌশল শেখে। যে কোন বিষয়ে দ্রুত যৌক্তিক বিশ্লেষণ ক্ষমতা বাড়ে। বিতর্ক করলে যেমন মনোযোগী শ্রোতা হওয়া যায়, তেমনি বাড়ে সময় সচেতনতা।

এদেশে সাধারণতঃ তিনটি ধারার বিতর্ক প্রচলিত।
১) বারোয়ারী বিতর্ক
২)সংসদীয় বিতর্ক
৩) সনাতনী বিতর্ক।
স্কুলে সাধারণত সনাতনী বিতর্ক চর্চা প্রচলিত। বারোয়ারী বিতর্ক হল একজন বিতার্কিকের শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব প্রমাণের শ্রেষ্ঠতম স্থান। সনাতনী বা সংসদীয় বিতর্কে নির্দিষ্ট কিছু নিয়ম-কানুন মেনে চলতে হয়। তা না হলে পেনাল্টি বা নম্বর কাটা যায়। বারোয়ারী বিতর্কে সে ঝামেলা নেই। এই বিতর্কে বিতার্কিক যেমন খুব বেশি মাত্রায় স্বাধীন, তেমনি ভালো খারাপের দায়ভারও রয়েছে একই পরিমাণে। আর এজন্যেই বারোয়রী বিতর্কে বিতার্কিকের কৃতিত্ব প্রকাশ পায়। বারোয়ারী বিতর্ক এক অর্থে এক ধরনের একক অভিনয়। পক্ষান্তরে, উপস্থাপনার দিক থেকে আবৃত্তির সাথে অনেক মিল থাকে এ বিতর্কের। তবে অভিনয়, আবৃত্তির সাথে বারোয়ারী বিতর্কের পার্থক্য হল এ বিতর্কে যুক্তিনির্ভর কথামালা থাকবে, যা অভিনয কিংবা আবৃত্তিতে বাঞ্ছনীয় নয়।
সংসদীয় বিতর্ক অনেকটা জাতীয় সংসদের অনুকরণে হয়ে থাকে। এ বিতর্কে সরকারি ও বেসরকারি দুইটি দল থাকে। সংসদীয় বিতর্কের দুইটি ভাগ থাকে-গঠনমূলক ও যুক্তিখ-ন। বিতর্ক যিনি পরিচালনা করেন তাকে বলা হয় স্পিকার।
সনাতনী বিতর্কে বিতর্কের বিষয়কে কিভাবে সংজ্ঞায়িত করা হচ্ছে, কতটা জোরালো যুক্তি, তত্ত্ব, তথ্য উদাহরণ দেওয়া হচ্ছে তার উপর ভিত্তি করে নম্বর দেওয়া হয়ে থাকে। এই বিতর্কে বিতার্কিকের উচ্চারণ, বাচনভঙ্গি ইত্যাদিও অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
মূলতঃ বিতর্ক হচ্ছে যুক্তি, তথ্য, তত্ব, উপাত্ত প্রভৃতি বিষয়ের সমাহারে প্রতিপক্ষের বক্তব্য খন্ডনের সাবলীল মাধ্যমে। যার মাধ্যমে একজন বক্তা হয়ে উঠে কথা বলায় পারদর্শী। যা তাকে শ্রোতাদের কাছে করে তোলে অনন্য।

Who can participate :
Schools of Chittagong ,Cox'sbazar ,Rangamati,Khagrachori and Bandorbon Districts,
And any debate club/society can also participate the competition and participants should be school students.

Maximum 3 teams of a school can participate.

Registration fee:
Tk 500/team for Bengali debate.
Tk 800/team for English Debate.
Registration fee includes training and grooming session before competition.
Registration starts from 16 august to 30 August.
Opening Session: 2nd September .
