With the help of their dedication, teamwork and coordination, these three brilliant students from the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗮𝘄 of the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴 secured the position of 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿-𝘂𝗽 in the contest conducted by the 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀. Considering the fact that there were 63 teams from 42 universities participating in this competition, this achievement has become even more impressive under such tough competition.

Our hearts swell with joy seeing them achieve such heights. We, the 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 (𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗛𝗦), extend our heartiest congratulations once again and pray for their continued success in all their future endeavors.

On this basis, CURHS works extensively to introduce structural academic direction to the higher study aspirants by organizing insightful educational sessions. Thus, on June 11, 2026, an enriching session on “𝐏𝐡𝐃 & 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐒𝐀 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞”, featuring 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐲𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦 was successfully conducted by the 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲.

In discussion, the session included the practical understanding of pursuing a PhD, marking funding opportunities, selecting subject-based supervisors, analyzing interdisciplinary pathways within social sciences, learnings about the effective scholarship applications, planning of research-based job sectors based on both Bangladesh and USA contexts, etc. Therefore, through the interactive Q&A segment, participants gained clarity on their academic and career concerns, which further made this event incredibly purposeful for the higher study enthusiasts.

To conclude, with an overwhelming participation from students across different departments, the session successfully fulfilled its motto of spreading valuable guidance and awareness. Inspired by this, hopefully, we will be able to create more meaningful learning experiences to aid students in accomplishing their higher education objectives.

With the emerging era of advancement, higher education in Social Sciences is expanding its career opportunities through developing knowledge, research skills, and global perspectives. However, research-driven aspirants of this field often face difficulty in attaining proper guidelines on scholarship and funding prospects, PhD opportunities, career pathways and job prospects in their domains of interest. ২০২৬ নেচার ইনডেক্স তথ্য অনুযায়ী প্রকাশিত র‍্যাঙ্কিং এ চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এর উল্লেখযোগ্য তিনজন গবেষক এ প্রকাশনায় স্থান করে নিয়েছেন। এছাড়াও উল্লিখিত তিনটি গবেষণা প্রকাশনাসহ চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বাংলাদেশের সকল প্রতিষ্ঠানের মধ্যে ১৭তম স্থানে রয়েছে।

এক্ষেত্রে বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান দেখা গিয়েছে স্বাস্থ্যবিজ্ঞানভিত্তিক বিষয়ে।

উক্ত বিশিষ্ট তিনজন গবেষকের মধ্যে রয়েছেন, ড. বিশ্বজিৎ নাথ, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভূগোল ও পরিবেশবিদ্যা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক, যিনি Nature Communications জার্নালে প্রকাশিত “Mapping previously undetected trees reveals overlooked changes in pan-tropical tree cover” শীর্ষক গবেষণাপত্রে যুক্ত ছিলেন, এবং এই গবেষণাটি ছিল মূলত বিশ্বের ট্রপিক্যাল অঞ্চলে পূর্বে শনাক্ত না হওয়া গাছপালা চিহ্নিত করার সাথে সম্পর্কিত।

ড. এ এইচ এম রায়হান সরকার, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইনস্টিটিউট অব ফরেস্ট্রি এন্ড এনভায়রনমেন্টাল সায়েন্সেস- এর অধ্যাপক, যিনি বিশ্বের অন্যতম শীর্ষ গবেষণা জার্নাল PNAS বা Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (of the United States of America) -এ প্রকাশিত “A population genetic analysis of the nematode in Asia shows that human infection is not a zoonosis from dogs” গবেষণায় গবেষক হিসেবে অবদান রেখেছেন। এই গবেষণায় এশিয়ার parasitic nematode নিয়ে population genetics বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে এবং কুকুর থেকে zoonotic spillover এর কারণে মানুষের মধ্যে সংক্রমণ হয়েছে কিনা তা পরীক্ষা করা হয়েছে।

ড. অলি আহমেদ, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মনোবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক। যিনি সহ-গবেষক হিসেবে Nature Medicine জার্নালে প্রকাশিত “Global, regional, and national burden of chronic respiratory diseases and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, 1990–2023” গবেষণাপত্রে অংশগ্রহণ করেছেন। উক্ত Global Burden of Disease (GBD) গবেষণায় ১৯৯০ থেকে ২০২৩ সাল পর্যন্ত বিশ্বের chronic respiratory diseases-এর বৈশ্বিক, আঞ্চলিক ও জাতীয় পরিস্থিতি বিশ্লেষণসহ COVID-19 pandemic শ্বাসতন্ত্রজনিত রোগের ওপর এটির প্রভাব তুলে ধরা হয়েছে।

উল্লেখ্য, নেচার ইনডেক্স (Nature Index) হলো মূলত Springer Nature এর একটি গবেষণা-ভিত্তিক মূল্যায়ন ব্যবস্থা, যা প্রায় ১৪৫টি উচ্চমানসম্পন্ন জার্নালসমূহে প্রকাশিত গবেষণা বিশ্লেষণ করে বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠানের র‍্যাঙ্কিং প্রকাশ করে।

প্রতিষ্ঠালগ্ন থেকে চিটাগাং ইউনিভার্সিটি রিসার্চ এন্ড হায়ার স্টাডি সোসাইটি (সিউআরএইচএস) গবেষণা, উদ্ভাবন এবং উচ্চশিক্ষাবিষয়ক কার্যক্রমের মাধ্যমে একটি কার্যকর প্ল্যাটফর্ম হিসেবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সম্মানিত গবেষকদের উক্ত আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে স্বীকৃত জার্নালে গবেষণা প্রকাশনা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গবেষণা অঙ্গনের জন্য অত্যন্ত প্রশংসনীয় অর্জন। তাঁদের এই অসাধারণ সাফল্যের জন্য CURHS এর পক্ষ থেকে আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন ও শুভকামনা জানায় এবং আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, গবেষণাক্ষেত্রে এই স্বীকৃতি শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য এক অনুপ্রেরণার উৎস হিসেবে ভূমিকা রাখবে।
