বাংলাদেশ প্রকৌশল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় (BUET)-এর সাবেক শিক্ষার্থী মোহাম্মদ লতিফ সিদ্দিক এবার বিশ্বের অন্যতম শীর্ষ প্রযুক্তি প্রতিষ্ঠান Meta-তে Research Scientist হিসেবে যোগদান করতে যাচ্ছেন।

নটরডেম কলেজ থেকে এইচএসসি শেষে ২০১৬ সালে বুয়েটের কম্পিউটার সায়েন্স অ্যান্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগে ভর্তি হন তিনি এবং ২০২১ সালে স্নাতক সম্পন্ন করেন। এরপর উচ্চশিক্ষার জন্য যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে পাড়ি জমিয়ে University of Notre Dame থেকে মাস্টার্স ও পরবর্তীতে পিএইচডি সম্পন্ন করেন।

কর্মজীবনের শুরু ঢাকার REVE Systems-এ জুনিয়র সফটওয়্যার ইঞ্জিনিয়ার হিসেবে। পরে Data Science, Chatbot Development, LLM এবং OpenAI Products নিয়ে কাজ করেছেন। ২০২৫ সালে Meta-তে ইন্টার্নশিপের সময় WhatsApp Groups & Communities নিয়ে কাজ করার অভিজ্ঞতাও অর্জন করেন।

মাগুরার শ্রীপুরে দেশজুড়ে আলোড়ন সৃষ্টি করা আট বছরের শিশু আছিয়া ধর্ষণ ও হত্যা মামলার রায় ঘোষণার এক বছর পেরিয়ে গেলেও তা কার্যকর না হওয়ায় গভীর ক্ষোভ ও আক্ষেপ প্রকাশ করেছেন তার মা আয়েশা খাতুন। ২০২৫ সালের ৫ মার্চ রাতে বোনের শ্বশুরবাড়িতে নির্মম নির্যাতনের শিকার হওয়া তৃতীয় শ্রেণীর শিক্ষার্থী আছিয়া ঢাকার সিএমএইচে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় মারা গেলে দেশজুড়ে তীব্র প্রতিবাদ গড়ে ওঠে। পরবর্তীতে দ্রুত বিচার প্রক্রিয়ায় মূল আসামি হিটু শেখের মৃত্যুদণ্ড হলেও উচ্চ আদালতে আপিলের জটিলতায় বর্তমানে মামলার গতি থমকে আছে। আয়েশা খাতুন কালের কণ্ঠকে জানান, আসামির দুই ছেলে খালাস পেয়ে যাওয়ায় এবং ফাঁসি কার্যকর হতে দীর্ঘ বিলম্ব হওয়ায় তিনি চরম অনিশ্চয়তা ও অভাব-অনটনের মাঝে দিন কাটাচ্ছেন।
