Question: Discuss the theme of human experience in Whitman's "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry". âCrossing Brooklyn Ferry" is a poem by Walt Whitman which was published in 1856 in his collection Leaves of Grass. It describes the ferry trip across the East River from Manhattan to Brooklyn at the exact location that was to become the Brooklyn Bridge.In this poem, Whitman expresses his philosophical view about the unity of all things in the universe. Outwardly this very poem seems to be an excellent description of the natural scenes in and around Brooklyn. To be more clear, it seems to deal with the feelings and emotions, thoughts, and ideas that arise in the mind of the poet during his crossing of Brooklyn Ferry at sundown.
