The Department of Economics congratulates its alum Professor Dr Osama S M Khan for this high level of academic achievement.

From IUB to UK’s top academic leadership: IUB alum Prof. Osama Khan, who earned his Bachelor’s in Economics at IUB in the Class of 1999, has been appointed the next Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of South Wales (USW), UK. He will assume office in May 2026.

Prof. Khan is currently serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Aston University and has previously held the position of Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Surrey. This appointment establishes him as the first academic - born, raised, and educated in Bangladesh - to ascend to the chief executive office of a public university in the UK and Europe.
