We are proud to share that Team Zero Disaster from the Department of Coastal Studies and Disaster Management, University of Barishal, has achieved the Champion title at the University-Level Poster Presentation Competition during the Bridging Youth Opportunity: Conference on Anticipatory Action.
Led by Naimur Rahman Sajib, with team members Redwan Ar-salan Sakib, Iffat Ara Achol, Shreya Das, and Tamim Rahman Ashik, the team presented an outstanding poster titled “Integrating Indigenous Indicators and Scientific Forecasting in Cyclone Risk Reduction.” Their work highlights innovative pathways to strengthen anticipatory action and promote sustainable disaster risk reduction.
The conference was organized by Jago Nari and Save the Children, and graciously hosted at Patuakhali Science and Technology University.

Congratulations to the team for bringing honor to the department and showcasing impactful research for climate-resilient futures.

আমাদের বিভাগ কোস্টাল স্টাডিজ এন্ড ডিজাস্টার ম্যানেজমেন্ট এর ৫ম ব্যাচ, বরিশাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ১০ তম ব্যাচ (অনার্স: ২০২০-২১ সেশন) এর মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী মোহাম্মদ আলি এর মৃত্যুতে, আমরা কোস্টাল স্টাডিজ এন্ড ডিজাস্টার ম্যানেজমেন্ট পরিবার গভীর ভাবে শোকাহত।

আল্লাহ তাকে জান্নাত নসিব করুক এবং তার পরিবারকে এ শোক কাটানোর ক্ষমতা দান করুক।

জরুরি মানবিক সাহায্যের আবেদন

বরিশাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কোস্টাল স্টাডিজ এন্ড ডিজাস্টার ম্যানেজমেন্ট বিভাগের ২০২০–২১ সেশনের মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী মোহাম্মদ আলি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ব্রেইন টিবি রোগে আক্রান্ত। প্রথমে সে ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা গ্রহণ করে এবং এরপর ঢাকায় চিকিৎসাধীন ছিলো।

গত বছরের নভেম্বর থেকে হঠাৎ প্রচুর জ্বর ও মাথাব্যাথার উপসর্গ দেখা দেওয়ায় প্রথমে নানান জটিলতায় সঠিক রোগ নির্ধারণ করা সম্ভব হয়নি। এরপর কয়েকবার টেস্টের পর ব্রেইনে টিবি ও টিউমার ধরা পড়ে। এরপর টিবির ঔষধ গ্রহণ করার পর লিভারের সমস্যা ধরা পড়ে এবং পুনরায় ফুসফুসে সংক্রমণ হয়ে গুরুতর অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ে। এরপর বেসরকারি ভাবে ঢাকায় চিকিৎসা নেওয়ার পর উল্লেখযোগ্য কোন উন্নতি হয়নি। কিন্তু বর্তমানে তার অবস্থা খুবই সংকটপন্ন এবং লাইফ সাপোর্টে আছে।

তার পরিবারের সামর্থ্য না থাকা সত্ত্বেও এতদিন সর্বোচ্চ চেষ্টা করে চিকিৎসার খরচ বহন করেছে। কিন্তু এখন তারা মারাত্মক আর্থিক সংকটে আছে এবং এই চিকিৎসা খরচ অত্যন্ত ব্যয়বহুল।

মোহাম্মদ আলি তার পরিবারের মধ্যে একমাত্র মেধাবী সন্তান, একজন সন্তানের জীবন এবং একটা পরিবারের স্বপ্ন বাঁচাতে আপনার সামর্থ্য অনুযায়ী আর্থিক সহায়তা করার জন্য আন্তরিকভাবে অনুরোধ জানাচ্ছি।

Department of Coastal Studies and Disaster Management is delighted to share that Md. Naiem Sarder (CDM – 3rd Batch, BU – 8th Batch) has been awarded the prestigious National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh, for his Master’s thesis research.

📘 Thesis Title:
“Investigation of Water Quality and Heavy Metal Pollution in Surface and Groundwater: Impacts on Human Health and the Environment in Mathbaria Coastal Upazila, Bangladesh.”

This remarkable achievement reflects his academic excellence, research dedication, and commitment to addressing critical environmental and public health issues in coastal Bangladesh.
