Load Distribution Case
■ Case 1: Equal Load Distribution
• Load position: At the center of the beam
• Equation: F■ = F■ = mg/2
• Meaning: Both people share the load equally → 50% + 50%
■ Result: Each carries half the total weight
■ Case 2: Unequal Load (Shifted Toward One Person)
• Load position: Closer to the left person (at l/3 from left end)
• Equation: F■ + F■ = mg and (l/6)F■ = (l/2)F■
• Result: F■ = 3/4 mg, F■ = 1/4 mg
• Meaning: Left person carries 75%, right person 25% of the load
■ Case 3: One Person Directly Under Load
• Load position: Right above the left person’s head
• Equation: F■ = mg, F■ = 0
• Meaning: Left person supports the entire load, the other feels nothing
■ Case 4: Extra Person Hanging (Added Load on Beam)
• Situation: The right person climbs onto the beam
• Equation: F■ + mg = F■ and (l/2)F■ = (l/6)F■
• Result: F■ = 1/2 mg, F■ = 3/2 mg
• Meaning: Right person carries more than total load (150%) due to extradownward force
■ Key Concept Summary
This is based on moment equilibrium: ΣM = 0 and ΣF = 0.
It’s the same concept used in beam analysis — how supports (reactions) share
load based on position of applied force.
