Some education interested persons set up a school at Hoglapatty of Jhalakati Pourasava in 1940. The school was named "Udbodhan Vidyalaya" by Kabi-Guru Rabindranath Tagore. In a short time the school was shifted at a suitable place of the town near the river Sugandha. In 1953 it got recognition as a Secondary School by EAST BENGAL SECONDARY EDUCATION BOARD, DACC
