🟩 Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to:

1.5.1 to read words, phrases and sentences in t9he text with proper pronunciation, stress and intonation.

🟩Warm-up / Greeting: (Time: 2 Minutes)
a) The teacher will enter the class and greet the students warmly.
b) The teacher and students will sing an action song or rhyme together (e.g., "If you're happy and you know it").
c) The teacher will check attendance.
🟩Preparation:
a) Textbook (Unit 40, Lessons 1-2).
b) Color pictures of Reshma and her work environment (from the second uploaded image).
c) Flashcards with difficult words (e.g., garment worker, erosion, accident, factory, stitches) and their meanings/pictures.
d) Chart paper or a poster with questions or instructions for group work.
🟩 Prior Knowledge Check: (Time: 5 Minutes)
1. The teacher will ask questions related to occupation:
a) "What do your parents/relatives do?"
b) "What kind of jobs do you see people doing in your village/town?"
c) "Have you ever seen a garment factory?"
2. The teacher will encourage the students' answers and gently link them to the day's topic.
🟩Announcement of the Lesson through Picture Display: (Time: 3 Minutes)
The teacher will display the pictures of Reshma and the village/factory on the board and ask:
a) "Who is the girl in the picture? What is she doing?"
b) "Look at the other picture. Where are the people working?"
c) The teacher will write the lesson title on the board: "A garment worker's day".
d) The teacher will state, "Today, we will read a story about Reshma, a garment worker, and learn about her day."
🟩Presentation Phase: (Time: 22 Minutes)
🟩1. Teacher's Ideal Reading and Picture Display (Time: 7 Minutes)
a) The teacher will open the textbook and read the first paragraph (Reshma is a garment worker... died in an accident.) with ideal pronunciation, correct stress, and intonation.
b) While reading, the teacher will occasionally show the first part of the picture (the village scene) to connect the text with the visuals.
c) The teacher will read the second paragraph (Reshma's uncle Ratan... and sells them.)
d) The teacher will show the second part of the picture (the factory scene) while reading this section.
e) The teacher will read the last paragraph (The garment factory is two kilometres... and other things.)
🟩2. Meaning of Difficult Words and Pronunciation Practice (Time: 5 Minutes)
The teacher will write the difficult words on the board or use flashcards and explain their meaning:
a) Garment worker: A person who makes clothes.
b) Erosion: Land being washed away (by a river).
c) Accident: An unfortunate incident.
d) Stitches: Sews (a verb).
e) The teacher will pronounce each word twice, and the students will repeat in chorus (Uchcharon Onushilon).
🟩 3. Students' Reading (Time: 5 Minutes)
a) The teacher will ask 2-3 good readers to read the text aloud.
b) The teacher will then encourage 4-5 less-confident readers to read small sentences with support.
c) Finally, all students will be asked to read the entire text silently.
4. Pair Work: (Time: 5 Minutes)
• The teacher will divide the students into pairs (A/B).
• The teacher will write a few 'True or False' statements on the board/chart paper.
a) Example: 1. Reshma is 18 years old. (T)
b) Example: 2. Her mother works in the factory. (F)
c) Example: 3. Reshma wants to buy a rickshaw. (F, she likes to go to the cinema)
1. Students will read the text and discuss in pairs to find the correct answer.
2. The teacher will circulate and provide assistance.
🟩Game: (Time: 8 Minutes)
Game Name: "Find the Answer Race"
a) The teacher will write 4 lesson-related questions on small slips of paper.
b) The teacher will form 4 teams (Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4).
c) Each team will be given one slip of paper.
d) The teams must discuss, find the specific line in the text where the answer is, and write the answer down before pinning it on the board.
🟩 Example Questions:
(1) How did Reshma’s father die?
(2) What is Reshma's mother's job?
(3) How far is the factory from Reshma's house?
(4) Why is extra money important for her family?
The teacher will check the answers and praise the winning team.
🟩Assessment: (Time: 5 Minutes)
Individual Task:
a) The teacher will ask the students to write a short question on their exercise books and write the answer.
b) Question: "Write two things Reshma’s family needs money for."
c) The teacher will quickly check a few notebooks and provide feedback.
🟩Homework: (Time: 1 Minute)
a) The teacher will assign homework:
b) "Draw a picture of Reshma going to work and write three sentences about what you drew."
🟩 Conclusion: (Time: 1 Minute)
a) The teacher will briefly recap the main points of the lesson (Reshma, the garment worker, hard work).
b) The teacher will encourage the students and ask them to be prepared for the next class.
c) The teacher will end the class on a positive note.
