The Barbados Accreditation Council was recently joined by Paul White of the SCQF Partnership for a tour of Barbados Community College, one of Barbados’ flagship tertiary institutions and the oldest community college in the English-speaking Caribbean.

Led by Principal Annette Alleyne, the tour provided the Council’s Executive Director and Manager, Technical Services, alongside Mr. White, with valuable insight into the College’s plans to expand its facilities and further strengthen partnerships with institutions across the region.

The Barbados Accreditation Council has strengthened its international partnership with the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at advancing qualifications, lifelong learning, and workforce development in Barbados.

The collaboration supports the continued development of the Barbados Qualifications and Credit Framework (BQCF) and the transition toward the Barbados Accreditation and Qualifications Authority (BAQA), helping to create more flexible and connected pathways for education, training, and skills recognition.

The signing of this MOU positions Barbados to better support lifelong learning and respond to the evolving needs of the workforce and economy.

Not all tertiary institutions operating in Barbados are automatically recognised.

To be acknowledged as a legitimate tertiary education provider, institutions must be registered with the Barbados Accreditation Council.

Taking the time to verify can help you make the informed decisions about your education.
