Today is World Down Syndrome Awareness Day!

So many people and organizations associate Down Syndrome with mismatched socks. If you've ever wondered why, here are some quick facts about it -

🔵 Each cell in our body is made up of 23 pairs of chromosomes, the things that make up our DNA.

🔵 The shape of a chromosome is similar to a sock.

🔵 In a person with Down Syndrome, there's an extra chromosome in their genetic makeup.

It's because of the similar sock-shape that many have used mismatched socks to represent Down Syndrome. Really, it's a simple way for us to remember those that are born with this difference in genetics.
