Sharing a lovely review from a Canadian visitor: I am from Leduc, Alberta, Canada and, while on vacation here, my wife and I had the pIeasure of attending a performance of your dance/theatrical production of ‘Shrek’ last Sunday. In Leduc, which is a city of thirty thousand, we have a very nice theatre and, for the past three or four years, I have written reviews for all of the theatre productions staged by our local drama society. I write these reviews because I really appreciate the Performing Arts and I greatly respect the amazing amount of work that goes into staging each and every production. That said, I have to state that St. Winifred’s school has done a truly world-class job with ‘Shrek’! Honestly, I was totally amazed at the very high quality of the sets, costumes, choreography and acting. I still cannot fathom the amount of effort, teamwork, community spirit and skill that had to have gone into bringing this production to life. I have been told that the staging of St. Winnifed’s bi-annual ‘pantomime’ is a long-standing tradition. As such, the huge effort that is put into the show might seem, to some, to be normal and ‘just the way it’s done’. However, from my perspective, your efforts, and the fantastic results your school community has achieved, are anything but normal; rather, they are truly exceptional and something of which you should be very proud. There are stores on the Island that claim to have ‘The best of Barbados’. But, to me, the best in Barbados was on display on Sunday evening at St. Winifred’s. Certainly, the children were amazing, beautiful and talented. The acting and dancing were awesome. There were so many highlights to mention that I cannot list them all. And, I admit that when the cast sang the Christmas song together during the finale, all framed in light and shining in their brightly-colored costumes, it brought tears to my eyes. But there were other stars that shone brightly that night as well. The volunteers, teachers and parents who provided leadership and support for the students, not just on Sunday night but since July, I understand, are truly to be commended. None of this would have been possible without such a strong St. Winifred community. So thank you for a wonderful evening and all the best in your future productions. I hope to attend the next one in two years. Well done! Photo Credit: Joanne Spencer.

This past weekend, a very special audience was treated to a preview performance of Shrek. Audience members laughed loudly, clapped wildly and watched in awe as the well-known and endearing characters appeared on the spectacular sets, in stunning costumes. The specially invited guests, young and elderly, from across the island, along with caretakers and family members, were truly delighted by the hilarious script and energetic dances. During intermission the audience was treated to a selection of refreshments and food through the kind donation of Summit Asset Management. Several audience members also enjoyed posing with Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots. Tickets for the Gala Opening this Saturday Nov 19th and all other shows are available at Massy Stores Worthing - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and Massy Stores Warrens - Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, between 10am and 4pm. Previous St. Winifred's productions have been praised for their high quality and have traditionally sold out. Shrek promises to surpass all expectations. This is a show not to be missed.
